The hotel was right next to the airport which was great for our late arrival and early departure from Costa Rica. We loved everything about this hotel and we are so happy we chose to stay here. The hotel was very clean; we would come in and our room would smell and look amazing. The food options at the restaurant were excellent (we tried all the local dishes and local juices/milkshakes). We felt that the location was perfect- we liked the fact that the airport shuttle was easily accessible; we felt safe walking around the area; and the best part was having a Walmart so close (walking distance) for snacks...

Victor, manager at hotel, was so kind upon check in. I had a long journey to San Jose and another one the next day. He did everything to make me comfortable and welcome. The garden in the back is so inviting and lush. I felt safe and cared for. The next morning I was taken to the airport for my next flight. This hotel is only about 2 miles from the airport and has free to shuttle the morning after stay, although my taxi to hotel from airport was only a couple of USD. I chose this...

I gave this hotel a 5 star rating because the owner was unbelievably helpful and friendly. First, he personally drove us to a place to get take out for dinner. We had to get up at 3:30 am for our flight. He gave us plates, glasses, silverware. He sat down with us and shared a bunch of stories. Then he made arrangements for our transportation to the airport.

I was a little worried during the taxi ride to the hotel that I had made a terrible mistake in picking the hotel as some of the areas look a little rough (by American standards), however, once at the gated hotel I realized that I indeed had made a good choice when choosing the location as the property is incredibly calming and beautiful. Just know that since you are out of the city you will need to use Uber eat or a taxi to get food as there is no onsite restaurant.

Great customer service, even booked a shuttle for the next day (same price as if I did it myself). Airport pickup, reception, check-in, breakfast, local directions, and the room were all excellent. They even drove us to a nearby restaurant. The only drawback was that Room #1 was in the hallway, so be aware that noises in the hallway and bedroom transmit easily.

We had a wonderful Christmas week at Canal Grande Lodge! Raffael and his staff were excellent hosts who made sure we had everything we needed. The small hotel was quiet and beautifully situated. You could walk to restaurants and a few small local stores. We enjoyed Santa Margaritas down the street on 2 nights of our stay. If you know this is a small, local property that’s comfortably lived in and you don’t expect a palace for your shoestring budget, you’ll be very happily surprised by this...
