Great place to arrive after a long day of driving

Posted Sep 26, 2014
Pros: On Old Route 66, nice to hear the trains roll by during the night. Easy to walk into town for dinner.
Cons: nada
Wonderful Staff, clean, terrific room, dark, and quiet for a good night's sleep.

Some people have to complain about everything.

Posted Sep 23, 2014
This is a dated independent hotel trying to survive in the chain age. It has up to date, comfortable beds and bedding. The carpet is older and. An ugly brown but it was clean and stain free. The tv's were pretty old too, not the end of the world. If you want the newness of Marriott and Hilton (I like them too and am a gold member in each) you should stay there and spend 50% more. For this trip I was looking for something different and this was just fine. The free breakfast was ok, but the friendly Hispanic host dude with the all gold grill was great and worth something. For the complainers in this post get a life and either pay for your expectations or accept that it doesn't have to be brand new to be clean or a decent value.

Decent Location and Price, Poor Rooms

Posted Sep 16, 2014
Pros: Location, staff was friendly and helpful
Cons: The rooms need help. If they can't be expanded, they need to at least be updated. Some better wine and beer would be a great bonus.
Location: Pretty easy walk to downtown Flagstaff. There are a ton of restaurants, bars, and shops within a half mile. It's right off I-40 on old Route 66.
We stayed here to be close to downtown Flagstaff. The price was decent and the location is close enough to walk, but the rooms really shouldn't be called suites. Our King suite was a small sitting room with a desk and a bedroom that was a room just barely large enough for what the king bed that seemed an awful lot like a queen. There was no TV in the bedroom and the room was much warmer than the rest of the "suite". Opening the window only let in the constant traffic noise from right outside the window. The bed was comfortable enough and the bathroom was clean and functional. The pool area was fine and free breakfast/social hour was nice, though the wine was warm and from a box.

Super Friendly Staff

Posted Sep 15, 2014
Pros: Food, friendly staff, proximity to NAU, quiet, clean room.
Cons: Very acceptable as is.
Location: Close to NAU, and close to historic downtown without being right in the commotion. Wonderful location!
I booked this for my husband to take our daughter up to NAU, so this is what he shared with me. Like most hotels on Route 66, it is older. We booked a single room, and it was small. He said the staff was wonderful, the included breakfast was delicious, and the room was very clean and quiet. We will definitely book our next trip at this hotel!

Great price, wonderful breakfast

The only problem with our stay was that we had an upstairs room. Very clean, excellent breakfast, easy access, close to downtown. Liked it a lot.

Good Value Motel

Posted Sep 11, 2014
Pros: It was clean, comfortable and convenient to downtown.
Cons: Some of the old features remain- the old bathroom fixtures with slow draining plumbing, and the older ill-fitting front door with a key.
Location: This motel has a location close to old downtown Flagstaff and the Northern Arizona State University campus, with great dining and museum interest.
I have been to Flagstaff many times, and remembered the Hotel Aspen as a different Motel, somewhat shabby. I was apprehensive about trying it, even though I knew it had been upgraded. My wife and I were surprised when we arrived. The Motel has been substantially upgraded. Even though some of the badly worn pieces remain, the motel is very pleasant and very clean. The internet was quite good too. The complimentary breakfast was very good and the "route 66 café" motif worked well. The convenience to downtown Flagstaff offered by this Motel can't be beat.

Older hotel, needs lots of work.

Posted Sep 11, 2014
Pros: They had a happy hour at the little club house and the breakfast was decent.
Cons: Oh boy! The electricity needs a lot of help - our in-room phone for wake-up calls, etc. did not work...phone was completely dead.
Location: We were in Flagstaff AZ. Lots of things to do! Lowell Observatory was great! Downtown Flagstaff is super! Fun, eclectic, food good and shops fun!
Not happy with the way they are presenting themselves on line. Very misleading. Front desk staff is friendly and are trying but hotel needs a lot of maintenance. New owners are trying but they have a long way to go...

Pros: See above
Cons: See above, updating rooms..sheets that fit the bed.
Location: Fairly good location , a bit noisy with several trains.
Wall covering loose & ripping off in a few spots .. One bed ok other was not! Personnel who served social hour & breakfast efficient & cheerful! Cleaning staff? One person vomited in entrance to cafe & we told 3 staff & no one cleaned it up for 20 minutes,,! That upset me, finally a gal took a bucket of soapy water & threw on it, but only after others had not seen it & stepped in it accidentally .. It was a nice view & fair price with Expedia. We enjoyed social hour & good breakfast especially with gentleman making waffles... What a treat! Woke up both nights with noise from room above us!

We had a nice room. Happy hour was a plus.

Pros: Beds were comfy . Room was fairly clean. Staff was nice.
Cons: Fix the spa and the fountain.
Location: Lots of things to do close by.
The staff here was excellent. Needs work in the spa room but there working on it. Close to downtown ( about a 10 min walk) Black Bart's steak house and musical revue was a plus.

The staff was nice and the beds were comfortable, but the bathroom was not very clean and you could hear the rooms above and next door.
