NOT A SMOKE FREE "PROPERTY"Posted Jun 19, 2014
Pros: We love the Old Florida theme, the fact that we are out over the water, and the daily visits of the dolphin. The sunsets are beautiful.
Cons: CHANGE MANAGMENT. DO NOT ADVERTISE AS SMOKE FREE PROPERTY, BUT JUST SMOKE FREE ROOMS.
Location: EATERIES in area are great, but rustic. My personal favorite is an Italian restaurant ( Michels) .. live entertainment and fish and chips on Tues.
I looked forward to a non smoking facility, but after arriving I quickly got the idea, that this is only in the rooms. Management, employees,, and guests all smoked close to sitting areas, and just outside our room. If you book on Expedia (which we like doing), this establishment penalizes you by giving you what I refer to as a closet with a bathroom. It was the smallest they had. The dresser smelled mildew very bad. We talked to them about upgrading to a suite (there was one available), and would pay the difference, for the second night. Manager, Diane says she would NOT give us credit for the room already paid for, thus we would be paying for a suite and a room for the second night. I was not born yesterday, lady. She was NOT honest from the beginning. Because it was our 20th wedding anniversary, having been at the Bridgewater that many years ago, we were looking forward to staying there. We would NOT recommend this establishment to anyone, unless changes are made in management. On the upside, we did enjoy some very good meals, and still love this area. MAKE CHANGES!

Fishing paradisePosted Sep 9, 2013
Pros: The location and the view. The innkeepers were very friendly and wanting your stay enjoyable.
Cons: Some room improvements. Updating, new door knob and a wall unit air conditioner.
Location: Fishing big time. Some small shops for souvenirs and shells.
This cozy little hotel efficiency was fun for the weekend. The rooms were comfortable and clean. If you are looking for a high quality place, you may search somewhere else. The rooms had little wall units and the room we stayed in needed a little renewing but for the price and fishing you can't beat it. People fished all night long, right off the deck to their room. While we were there people were catching Snook, reds and grouper. This place was comfortable, but not fancy. If you are a fisherman, this is the place for you.

Nice place to stay.Posted Aug 27, 2013
Pros: The staff (and even the other motel guests) were just so friendly and I think that was due to the friendliness of The Bridgewater (and Matlacha).
Cons: Wouldn't change a thing!
Location: Spend some time walking around Matlacha, visit the locals and then head out to Pine Island to check it out, very beautiful.
We had a great experience at Bridgewater, very friendly staff and loved the atmosphere it provided us, wish we could have stayed with them longer and we will definitely return when we want to escape "south" of us. We loved the whole experience!

cute small motel right on the waterPosted Jun 14, 2013 on Hotels.com
The hotel personnel calls their place Green and doesn't offer even to wash dishes for guests in rooms with kitchennettes. Airconditioners are very old and extremely noisy. The building is located under the bridge with high traffic
