"Very nice hotel but did not honor requests..."
Windsor Court is a very nice hotel. Being just outside the French Quarter made it quieter at night than many other hotels but it is still close enough that you can walk pretty much anywhere. The Club Level amenities are worth the extra price as I skipped 1-2 meals per day of eating out as I would have usually done on vacation, plus the concierge booked most of our activities for us. On the down side, we had requested a room with a river view and a mini fridge, both of which were confirmed by the staff weeks in advance, and neither of which were actually available when we checked in. They did bring us a small fridge but it was absolutely filthy (dried food inside, outside was dented and scratched up, looked like it was sitting outdoors for a while) and I really didn't use it as a result. Last, on the day of checkout, despite having a late checkout arranged (1PM instead of Noon), two staff members showed up trying to clean the room PRIOR to 10AM, and two more, including someone in a suit, came by between noon and 12:15 trying to kick us out. I'm torn on the overall experience because I really liked the room and SOME of the staff were great. The ones that weren't seemed more hampered by paperwork than a lack of desire to help. Maybe they just need a software upgrade or something...

"Fair, but not great"
I booked this hotel 6 mos in advance. I contacted the hotel to let them know Id be checkin in late (twice). When we checked in at 10p they told us there were no more king size beds. This was my anniversary. I did not understand why since I booked 6 mos in advance were there not king beds available. When we got to our room, our remote control to the TV did not work. There was also some type of little league tournament going on so kids took over the entire hotel and were apparently unsupervised. Kids screamed and ran up and down the halls the entire time we were there. Also, our room was right next to the ice machine which was also extremely noisy even when people weren't using it. Next time we go, we will stay somewhere else. The only good thing about this stay was a pretty view and easy to get a cab.

"Not a bad place for the price"
We had an eventful stay. My first piece of advice is to make sure you get a room with a window. I didn't even know there was such a thing as a hotel that had rooms without windows, but this one does. We tried to move to a room with a window but were advised that they were all booked. We decided to deal with it since we weren't planning on spending much time in the room anyway. Second thing that happened is that when we got back to the hotel after a fun night out, the power was out for the whole building. We had no option, we had to sleep there. Let me tell you, a room with no windows and no electricity was difficult. Power didn't come back on until the next afternoon. Even though it wasn't their fault, they ended up crediting us back for that nights room fee. We also got to move to a room with a window for our last night.

"Close to Uptown"
This was a different experience for our family. It was a hotel within a hospital. It was a little weird at first, but we were visiting my son who lives in Uptown so we basically just slept here which was good. The hotel is equivalent to a Days Inn as far as quality. The water was hot and the beds were comfortable so it was a 2 1/2-3 star as far as rating. If you just need an affordable place to sleep, then this hotel is fine for just that. We would stay here again.

Bring your appetite for delicious food and history as New Orleans serves up both every day. Hop on cheap flights to New Orleans, and you'll be eating beignets and shrimp po' boys before sundown.

The Best Times to Visit the Big Easy

There's really no wrong time to visit New Orleans, but you'll get the nicest weather and the most exposure to the city's festivals from February to May. During this time of the year, temperatures average in the mid-70s, so you'll be comfortable whether you're checking out the artists at the annual Jazz Fest or you're reveling in the crowds at Mardi Gras. During this period, hotels in New Orleans tend to book quickly, so plan ahead.

The weather heats up during the summer months, and temperatures in the low 90s are common. Pack your bathing suit and take a dip in your hotel's pool to cool off midday. If you visit during the low season, which runs from November to January, expect cooler temperatures in the lower 60s. New Orleans rarely sees freezing temperatures, so you can leave the heavy winter gear at home.

    What to See and Do

Start your adventures in Jackson Square, home of the iconic St. Louis Cathedral. From this central French Quarter location, you can enjoy a chicory coffee and muffuletta as you explore the oldest neighborhood in NOLA. Find great deals on the perfect souvenir over on Royal Street, or take a walk down Bourbon Street to sample a few drinks in the bars. Nearby Frenchmen Street comes alive after dark, with music playing in every jazz club and even on the street itself.

The famous St. Charles streetcar will easily transport you from the French Quarter to the beautiful Garden District. Here, you can admire the architecture of the restored homes and possibly spot a celebrity or two. Don't forget to stop by the Lafayette Cemetery to see the mausoleums that inspired Anne Rice's vampire novels. The city boasts plenty of family-friendly attractions as well, including Mardi Gras World, where kids can see the parade floats, and the Audubon Zoo, where they can get up close to white tigers and take a walk through a replica bayou.

Choose all-inclusive resorts in New Orleans for a complete package deal, or select a New Orleans spa resort if you want to relax while you're on vacation. Many hotels offer a full range of spa services for visitors who want to be pampered. For couples on a romantic getaway, the city has an abundance of charming inns and hotels.

Whether you're staying in the French Quarter, Uptown, or elsewhere in the city, most hotels offer a pool and concierge service. You can cool off from the Southern sun and make your dinner reservations without ever leaving the property.

    The New Orleans Landscape

Located along the Mississippi River, the city owes its early trading roots to its proximity to the water. On the north side of New Orleans is Lake Pontchartrain, a popular spot for boating and fishing. Take a ride across the Pontchartrain Causeway to reach the charming town of Abita Springs, which houses the state's largest brewery. The most populous city in LA, the New Orleans metro area also encompasses Metairie, Kenner, and Gretna, home to a popular music festival every October. Book your vacation with, and all that New Orleans has to offer can be at your fingertips with cheap prices every day.
