Close to shopping and museums.

Posted Jul 29, 2014
Pros: Clean, nice for the price, close to everything for teenagers.
Cons: The decor was a little dated but it is San Francisco so everything is expensive. I felt we got a lot of value for our money.
Location: We shopped at Neiman Marcus and other wonderful stores and enjoyed it. We walked to the Asian museum of art. We took the Uberx to other museums.
I liked the hotel very much. We had a very nice room. You could tell the decode was a little dated. However the hotel was clean. The room was large. We had two queen beds and a seating area. I travelled for a class and took my two teenage daughters. We shopped, went to museums and had a great time. The urban tavern had great food. We liked the fresh fruits and vegetables. We enjoyed the pool and the work-out facilities. I did not find the check-in or out crowded at all but perhaps we came and left at the right times. We ate at 6 a.m. every morning so there were no lines. We had a fabulous time and found the staff to be very helpful. Great place to stay.

DON'T purchase the Continental Breakfast option

Posted Jul 28, 2014
This is an expensive hotel but average in price for Union Square. I had the option to book the continental breakfast option for 2 when there were 4 of us staying, so I did. Bad idea. That breakfast option was a certificate to the Starbucks in the lobby - - 1 beverage, 1 pastry, 1 banana - - that was it - - for $30 extra/night!! Our room was upgraded (Tower 2) but the hotel in general and throughout the meeting rooms especially could use some work. Just be aware when you book, you can buy those same items from the Starbucks in the lobby for half the price without purchasing the "breakfast upgrade".

Convenience At Its Finest

Posted Jul 28, 2014
Pros: - Clean & simple room - Incredibly friendly & accomidating staff - Hotel restaurant, Urban Tavern, had great food and awesome drinks
Cons: Signage to get to all of the different areas could be a bit more pronounced. It's such a large hotel w/ various towers that it's easy to get lost.
Location: Great location -- union square is two blocks away, financial district is a short walk, and everything else is pretty much a short cab drive away!
Overall, I was very impressed with the Hilton Union Square. The location is incredibly central to everywhere I needed to go -- you're right next to Union Square, a short walk to the Financial District, and pretty much a quick cab ride to anywhere else in the city. I was staying in one of the urban contemporary rooms on the HHonors floor and it was lovely -- incredibly clean, simple design, and very quiet even though I was right on O'Farrell. I'm not sure I'd stay here on a romantic getaway, but for a business trip, it was the perfect fit.

Hotel is ok, shame about the lobby!

Posted Jul 26, 2014
On the whole the hotel is quite good in regards to the bedroom, as the bed was very comfortable! What let it down is the lobby! More like being at a train station as there are many conferences being held there & star bucks! I've never seen such a big queue! You can only get wifi in the lobby, other Hiltons I have stayed at you get it in the room! The location of the hotel was good, but if I'd return I'd choose another hotel which was less busy.

Check bill before leaving

Posted Jul 24, 2014
This hotel puts a hold of minimum $200 on your card to cover room incidentals , not advertised though. When you check out, please make sure they release this bond, otherwise you wait weeks and many phone calls to get your money back into your account

Over crowded, small rooms , not value for money

Posted Jul 19, 2014
Cons: Modernisation
Location: Short walk from Main Street
Facilities not sufficient for size of hotel, long queues for breakfast and reception. We booked two rooms which were small and dated, not value for money plus car dented in the hotel car park. Not great experience and not in line with expectations of a Hilton.

Convenient location to China town

Posted Jul 17, 2014
Pros: see above
Cons: See above
Location: In Union square so lots of shopping and lots of good eateries! Easy walking distance to China town. On the cable car and BART route.
Stayed in a modern room. Good location though and nice facilities. Breakfast seemed over priced so we ate out at another location closeby. Easy walk to China town. Lots of good restaurants within walking distance! Did not like that there was no lock on the bathroom door or a fan in the bathroom. Also would have liked a microwave for the price we paid for the room. Chose to park in city parking right across the street. About $15.00 a day cheaper than what the Hilton was charging for parking.
