Homey place close to everythingPosted Aug 5, 2014
We found the White Swan to be very homey and wonderfully non-corporate. We were greeted by very nice young people and fresh made cookies. The room is big and the building used to be apartments, so it has an old-fashioned feel. The elevator is a very old model, but fun. The breakfast is good and a great addition. The hotel is also walkable to so much (sometimes a good walk), and also very close to BART, buses and the MUNI. We'd definitely stay there again.

Central to everythingPosted Jul 17, 2014
Pros: I liked the breakfast that was included. We could walk to restaurants from the hotel and to most of the attractions. The bed was very comfortable.
Cons: Maybe a new faucet in the bathroom.
Location: We viewed the fireworks from Coit Tower. China town is five blocks away. We rode a cable car.
We stayed six nights at the White Swan Inn. We enjoyed the 60's British music in the lower food and sitting area. The 5:00 guest gathering is a nice touch. The room had a king sized bed, love seat, chair and fireplace. There was no Air Condition but it wasn't needed. We stayed July 3 - 9, 2014. I was able to enjoy several naps while my husband watched the World Cup. The hotel is small, charming and the staff are very helpful and friendly. We are glad we stayed here.

Nice and clean hotelPosted Jun 21, 2014
The hotel was very clean and the room was spacious. We loved the decor. The Complimentary breakfast was very good. The staff was pleasant enough, but they were in no way willing to go the extra mile to accommodate newbies to San Francisco. We desperately needed a concierge. Most amazing Italian resturant on the corner of Mason and Sutter!! Best in SF!!!

The hotel is centrally located and convenient.Posted May 29, 2014
Pros: The staff. Their service was excellent. The mid afternoon cookies and tea service was great as well. Andy, Zach and Ellla are THE BEST.
Cons: Wine service area could do with more small tables to rest the wine glasses. Turn around of clean cutlery during breakfast hour would be nice,
Location: China Town, Macy's Union Square, Walgreens, Liquor is easily accessbile.
The staff are very helpful with tips on travel. The always available tea, coffee service is excellent. We had a relaxed, comfortable stay. The time just flew back. The weather was super and the walks to Macy's and Union Square were charming. China town is just 10-12 minutes walk. The tram and cable car is close enough to benefit use of a 1 or 3 day transit pass.

Pros: Excellent hotel. Clean, cozy British decor and ambiance. Amazing study with authentic toothpick models of British architecture. Great staff too!
Location: Great location. Had wonderful dinner just a quick walk up the street at the Fairmont's famous Tonga Room.
Great hotel, in a great part of San Francisco. Many good restaurants, cable cars nearby.

White Swan InnPosted May 6, 2014
Pros: quiet clean and safe with good buffet breakfasts.
Location: Chinatown and cable car rides very close and Fisherman,s Wharf a 30 minute walk.
White Swan Inn in San Francisco was well situated for touring in a safe, clean end of the city. Public transit was easy to navigate and access and tourist attractions were within walking or a short cable car ride. Chinatown was a 10 minute walk with great restaurants. Daily buffet breakfast was filling and you were god to go until supper and in addition coffee and cookies were available all day. Starting at 5PM wine and hors d'ouevres were served and a great way to meet fellow guests.

Expensive - but really charming.Posted May 4, 2014 on Hotels.com
The room was large and comfortable, the staff was really helpful and welcoming, and the amenities were great. Wine reception, nice breakfast buffet, and FREE water and pop in the rooms. No air conditioning, but the room temp was fine, even though SF was unseasonably hot. Also, the receptionist offered a lovely large fan, which not only kept us cool but also drowned any semblance of street noise. Loved the British feel. Hotels in SF are pretty darned expensive, though - and this was no exception.

SFO REVISITPosted May 4, 2014 on Hotels.com
Hotel location great for shopping and dining. Staff friendly and helpful. Afternoon wine a great break and chance to meet other guests. Breakfast buffets have enough variety to suit most tastes. Only drawback to stay was unusually high local temperatures in city -- not controllable by staff. No A/C and not all windows could be opened for what little breeze was available. Also, no screens for windows. Room did have fan in closet.
