Didn't expect much and that's what I gotPosted Sep 27, 2014
Pros: Wi-Fi speed...
Cons: Complete renovation.
Location: Convenient for me, but I wasn't going to the beaches.
Overall, wasn't too bad. Spent the first 2 days contemplating leaving, but too many other things going on to really deal with switching hotels. One of the better priced "name brand" hotels around. Location stinks, but it is what it is. Bad: The windows, where there weren't drapes, were painted black (to control light I'm sure) & had a few places where that had been worn or scratched off. None of these were so big to be real light or privacy issues, but look pretty low rent. Black tape (looked like electrical tape) had been used to patch the 'holes'... The gap below the door also was fairly large & was a minor light problem, but probably a bigger efficiency issue (for the hotel.) I paid the whopping 2 extra dollars a day for the "business suite" to have a desk, but there were no available electrical outlets anywhere near the desk. In fact, there really weren't any accessible, available outlets anywhere, except in the bathroom... Luckily, I carry a travel sized power strip, so I could unplug the lamp at the desk, plug in my strip, and then plug the lamp back in and have two other outlets for my laptop & a charger for phone & the like. My power strip has a USB port, so between that, the other available power strip outlet, & my laptop, I had a few places to charge devices (iPhone, iPad, Bluetooth headset, etc.) Furniture was a bit 'rough' throughout. Room was not 'too unclean'... Continental breakfast was a joke. Good: Some of the better Wi-Fi speed I've encountered.

Dear Greg, Thank you for staying with us. I am sorry that your stay wasn't more accommodating for your business needs. If you had not had your power strip, and had extra outlet needs, we would always help in the best way we could to make sure that your business needs were met while staying here. I also apologize that the Rise & Shine Howard Johnson continental breakfast wasn't to your satisfaction. I am glad to hear that our Internet was working well, and that you were able to connect for free and on all of your devices sufficiently. Thank you for taking the time to fill out a survey and let us know about your experience.

Horrible experience.Posted Sep 1, 2014
Pros: Nothing. Was a horrible experience.
Cons: Everything. Cleaner rooms, remove statins off of carpets, clean room better, fix holes in walls and cabinets.
Location: There are many activities close by which is the reason we booked this hotel.
Got to the hotel at 2 upon check in time girl at front desk had to call and find out if room was ready. But check in time was at 2. Luckily room was ready. We did book a smoking room and knew there would be some odor from smoke. We went in and just placed our bags down and went about site seeing all afternoon and evening hence the reason we booked the hotel to be out doing things not staying in the room. Got back to the room very tired at 10 that evening. Room was gross. We didn't fully inspect room when we first arrived. Mistake I will never make again. Room was beyond smelling bad of smoke was more like a smell of someone that had gotten sick. Holes in walls, stains on walls, carpet, towels, furniture, lamp shades. Stains on curtains. Had to wear shoes all throughout room was afraid to take shoes off because of the condition of carpet. Was too exhausted from sight seeing to call front desk plus it was so late. Figured for one night maybe we could tolerate the smell and issues. Bad mistake again. Smell kept me up all night. Next morning taking a shower was bad. Water didn't drain out of tub, towels had stains on them. Was mortified. Complained at front desk that morning and wasn't offered any discount because of issues. Girl at front desk stated we should have said something last night. Sorry I guess this is my fault because we were sight seeing all day and didn't fully inspect room on arrival gave it the benefit of the doubt because this was a hojo motel.

Dear Valued Guest, Thank you for taking the time to fill out a survey and comment on your stay. I apologize that your experience was so horrible. We do try to accommodate all of our guest's needs for their room stay. The reservation was booked through our 3rd party reservation site as a King smoking room. If we are able to change the room type request to a more suitable room type, such as a non-smoking room, we are always happy to accommodate that request. For any non-smoker, a smoking room is more than likely going to be an uncomfortable experience. I'm also sorry that you felt that the suggestion for you to say something to the front desk at check in or sometime during the evening was rude. It was not intended to imply fault or sound rude. Again, we want you to have a comfortable stay. If we are unaware of any problems you are experiencing, then we are unable to remedy them as soon as we possibly can. Thank you for taking the time to respond, and I do hope we satisfied your stay with a proper conclusion to the situation.

The room was laid out nice and larger than expected. Large double closet space that included an extra blanket. It was a smoking room but didn't smel llike one.. Bed was a bit on the lumpy side. There was no available wall plug at thwe desk to plug in my computer. Refrigerator was super cold and I enjoyed that. Would stay again!

HorriblePosted Jul 27, 2014 on Hotels.com
The hotel was 30 minutes from clearwater beach and not 10. The room, sheets, and towels were dirty. Bed was uncomfortable, furniture was beat up, and the television screen was discolored. The staff was very rude and dishonest about many things, except for the overnight receptionist. I booked a nice hotel for another two nights to make up for the first three at Howard Johnson. You will not be relaxed, nor will you feel as if you had a vacation if you choose to stay here. Spend the extra money to actually relax and enjoy yourself.

Better than expectedPosted Jul 5, 2014 on Hotels.com
The office smelled like cigarette smoke, but the customer service was good. One side of the building appears to be for smokers but the other side is for non-smokers, I like that. The room was lit and the air going when I arrived. The place is very clean and kept in good repairs. It has in addition to the bed a sofa bed, a small refrigerator, a microwave and coffee machines plus other essentials found in a hotel.
