Good option for young , budget-conscious travelersPosted Feb 6, 2013
Pros: the cost
Cons: the rowdy, over-crowded kitchen and public room facilities.
Location: Sydney CBD near Central Station, Chinatown, Darling Harbor, and with convenient access to just about everything else of interest in Sydney..
Nomads caters to youthful international travelers on a budget -- with organized parties and other activities. If I were a party-oriented youth I probably would have been quite happy with it. It would definitely not be appropriate for families with younger children, and I think most folks over 40 would find it at least somewhat uncomfortable. The international mix of the visitors was interesting, but the social climate was on the wild side. The kitchen facilities were very inadequate for the number of people being served -- crowded, noisy, difficult to find space in the refrigerators, etc.

Great location but not clean enough!Posted Oct 16, 2012
Great location but the place is a bit rundown. It seems like no one came to clean the bathroom during my stay (4 nights) that was shared for the 4 beds dorms

This backpackers was in a very convenient location and the staff were very friendly and helpful. However the standard of the room was shocking, the room had not been cleaned as we found someone's used shirt in the drawers, paper left under the bed and the bathroom floor was found with a puddle of water on the floor. Overall we found the whole experience unpleasant due to the uncleanliness of our room/bathroom. It was also upsetting to find cockcroaches visiting the room.

Not worth the money!Posted Mar 5, 2012
Cons: simple, dirty, uncomfortable.
Location: Right at the heart of Sydney, walking distance of the harbor and of everything you would need.
Although the staff AT THE RECEPTION was very nice and helpful, my overall experience was not good. I got a private room ensuite. Instead, when I got to the hotel they told me that it was actually extended ensuite which means that the toilets were outside the room but I have a key so they are only mine. The room was as simple as they come, the shower and the toilets were even simpler. On the second day I saw a cockroach on the bed I understood how clean the room was. The Bed was a "bunk bed" the lower bed had a spring mattress in which the springs were completely broken. The upper bed a bit better, but not good. As I got a PRIVATE room, I expected to have a "do not disturb" sign to hang on the door. That does not exist in this hotel. The first morning I woke up at about 10am by the cleaning guy knocking on my door and bursting into my room without me even having the chance to answer the knock, this was followed 10 minutes later buy another cleaning guy doing the exact same thing. Even though I complained to the reception and was promised that it would not happen again - it DID happen again. The room also had a speaker in it so the reception could shout out to all the hotel guests when ever they wanted about their parties and events, might be good for the dorms and backpackers, but not right for everyone. Even if I wouldn't have had all those problems, just the room itself was so overpriced. It was just to simple and uncomfortable to cost that much.
