"Sofitel on Renmin Square exceeded our expectations in the quality and spaciousness of the room: for example, it had two toilets and a seperate Tub/Shower arrangement). It also exceeded our expectations in the breakfasts and the ambiance of the dining room. Additionally, all of the staff (expecially Leo the concierge) made us feel welcomed and were warm and friendly. Our stay at Sofitel Xian was a delight and an unexpected highlight of our 4 night stay in the city."

"I think this was the best stay in the whole China trip for me. I enjoyed the place, shower & bath, comfortable bed, breakfast, and hospitality staff. The location was a bit distanced from the station but taxi makes a big difference to come back here. I wish Japanese restaurant was open but I enjoyed the Chinese restaurant at Sofitel as well. "

"Room was fairly large though not in a very central location. A bit of a walk into main area near Drum Tower. Comfort of room was pretty good though not much of a view from my hotel room. If you are after something in a more central location then there are plenty of other options available closer to the central city area. "This Motel 168 was just right for budget travel. Just outside the Xi'an walls and a couple of blocks away from some street venders and super markets. The hotel was a little on the low side of comfort and the air con/heater was only in Mandarin so it took some time to figure out during the time I went (December). The hotel was clean and basic. Nothing outstanding except for the glassed-in plants on the other side of the shower...odd and different."
