Great mid winter break

We had a great time - the price and location fit our budget. the trips we did were just perfect, the OAHU Nature tour was excellent! Harry was a great tour guide! It was a perfect 5 day trip and my only regret was it didn’t last longer. Next time it will be 1-2 weeks. The hotel staff were very courteous and helpful. The shuttle was timely and the drivers were full of helpful information. The weather was also perfect, but I guess that wasn’t controllable.

From the moment we arrived until we had to check out a week later, we felt extremely comfortable. The hotel is clean, nicely decorated, and very easy to navigate. The people, including other guests, were friendly and just genuinely nice folks. The only griping I heard all week by any guest was that one of the three elevators was on the fritz about half of the time, so you had to wait an extra minute or two to catch an elevator. BIG DEAL!!!!!

Nice hotel!

Hotel was right on the beach. We had a partial ocean view and loved it! Loved sitting on the balcony and drinking coffee in the morning and watching the waves come in. Walls are somewhat thin. We could sometimes hear people or their TV at night. Didn’t like their tap water. Smelled moldy to me. If the water was ice cold or hot, it was fine. It was the strangest thing. We rode the city bus (take a jacket if traveling far) or the trolleys. We took the breakfast option and it was really good with a nice variety. Also nice to sit and watch what was happening on the beach in the morning while eating breakfast and not having to hunt for a place to eat. Duke’s was fun but loud at night--get a table down below if you want to talk.

Perfect Location

Excellent hotel in the perfect location for beach/shopping right in the middle of Waikiki, literally "on the beach". Only drawback was waiting on elevators which could be up to 5 mins. a minor glitch considering all of the other benefits. Overall a great hotel for the price.

A great vacation.

The room was wondeful with a beach view high enough not to have the sounds from the street or bars to bother us. The pool and beach gets crowded but you can find beach space easy enough just by walking a short distance. The restrauants had great food and a festive atmosphere. There is a free Polynesian show on Tues and Thurs around 8pm in the International market across the street. It is a great show that runs about an hour long. You should check the schedule at the market. The Outrigger Hotel was one of the major reasons i had one of the best vacation of my life. Friendly staff and great location.

Perfect spot on the beach!

We stayed at the Outrigger Waikiki over the Christmas holiday and really enjoyed our room. Our party consisted of my two parents who are 70, my husband and I and the room we had on the second floor gave us a view of the action so my parents could be comfortable after a busy day of site seeing without having to sit in a bar or restaurant. That said, we enjoyed Duke’s patio and the Hula Grill very much. This was an expensive but great place to stay and our ocean front room was just the ticket!

Honest Review From Semi-Satisfied Guest

Quick and dirty on this hotel: Pros: +Great location on Waikiki, near tons of shops and food, next to mall and directly across from international marketplace +Swim 100 yds out and it’s a reef w/ sea turtles in the winter +Most rooms have ocean view, albeit a small sliver of the ocean +On-site, coin operated laundry +Valet parking is cheaper than most self-parking +Free internet and US/Canada phone in rooms +3x good and fair priced restaurants w/in hotel +UPS shipping in hotel, USPS postal site across the street +Great beaches +Above average soaps/shampoos +Free safe Cons: -Small pool -Beach and pool seats fill up by ~10AM -Hotel interior not as modern as it could be -Pool and spa close earlier than some other hotels Neutral: ..Next to two of the nicest hotels on Waikiki, Royal Hawaiian and Surfrider, so it makes this hotel seem less exciting and out-of-date ..There are street performers across the street who play until about 10PM, and the street is busy, w/ delivery trucks early in the morning. Sleeping w/ the balcony open is not recommended (you will not hear the ocean over everything else) ..Room to room insulation is thin, so when neighbors have TV turned up at 2AM, you’ll hear it Summary: You’re paying for location, as amenities and quality of rooms/hotel are similar to cheaper hotels that are not on the beach. Consider if the extra cost is worth not walking 5 min to get to the water, and make your decision based on that.

Ready to return

We arrived at the Outrigger Waikiki on December 12, 2009. This will be our second trip to the Outrigger. Just like last time, we were greated by the parking staff outside the Outrigger where they unloaded ourr luggage and the bellman assisted us to the check-in area. Check-in went flawlessly and the staff welcomed us back to the property. We were offered a room upgrade without even asking for one. The staff was very helpful with answering our questions and getting the information that we were requesting. Our room was outstanding just like our last visit. Having been here before, I was not expecting anything less. The view from the balcony was fantastic with a great view of the ocean, as well as the city. Breakfast was provided with our room, and Duke’s staff did an excellant job again. The location of the Outrigger is in the center of most of the activity and it is an easy to walk to all area shops and restaurants. We will definately return to the Outrigger Waikiki again.

Lovely Hawaii Vacation

The Outrigger was great. Rooms were clean, plenty of space for 3. We had City View room, but could still see the ocean. The valet and bell staff were fabulous. The front desk staff were mostly fabulous. Duke’s was great, with a great value with excellent food. Elevator was broken, so service was slow. Guests are not allowed to use the stairs. Location was fabulous. The water was warm, the beach was clean. There were umbrellas/chairs available for rent or boogie boards or surfing lessons. We bought our own boogie board. Renting the umbrella was worth the money to keep our 2 yr old out of the sun. Valet was expensive, but there are really no other options around. Valet staff was very fast and more helpful than the very busy concierge desk. Yes, walls were very thin, but we were all so exhausted that we slept through any noise. We would definitely return to the Outrigger if the price was right again. We found a great deal on Expedia...however do not go to the breakfast orientation. You get stuck taking a tour of a jewelry store after their sales pitch of activities that we had already researched and booked. We were furious because it wastes your whole morning of your vacation and there is no breakfast, just bad apples/oranges. Don’t be fooled. But do go to the Outrigger. You can book your activities with their activities desk.

Awesome location

Hotel was in a great location right on the Waikiki Beach. Outside the front of the hotel was the busy area of Honolulu. Great place for someone who wants to have a good time both day and night.

Outrigger Waikiki

Good hotel. Great location. Staff a little surly at times (under staffed perhaps?) Excellent facilities and more than enough to do without ever leaving the location. Our only disasatisfaction was that the staff were a little grumpy (under-staffed, perhaps?) and - in one particular case - the upkeep of the hotel was very sub-standard. We complained to the hotel about this, and they handled it very professionally. Already looking forward to returning!

Will return again

The location was great. Just walk out onto the beach or shops. Great being able to get an umbrella and chairs and towels right at your fingertips. Only bad thing was too expensive to park a rental car overnight so had to return it the same day. Great restaurants especially the breakfast buffet. All employees so personable and friendly. Will be back again

VERY NOISY IN PARADISE

Excited upon arrival and disappointed when we entered our hotel room and opened the sliding glass doors for the fresh ocean breezes...but did not expect the extremely loud noise coming from hotels heating/cooling system. This noise was 24/7 so we had to spend our vacation with the sliding glass doors closed when we relaxed or slept in the room. Not Happy...we then called to see if another room on other side of hotel was available awy from the noise. The front desk was going to check and call us back. They never resolved this situation with us. Very disappointed that this was not remedied-would not stay here again and will not recommend this so-called 4-star hotel to others!

Waikiki for Thanksgiving

Everything about this hotel was great. We did not get a car and everything that we needed was in walking distance. Everyone on the property was friendly an helpful and the room were decent size plus we even got a partial ocean view You have to check out Duke’s Sunday buffet, it’s a great value with an awesome view

Perfect for Us

Location was perfect for us as we had teen sons in tow. Onto the street::lots of activity and people watching, restaurants,shopping,music. Onto the beach: chair rental, catamarans, surf boards,perfect sandy beach. Hotel is upscale in atmosphere but casual in attitude. Don’t miss Pai’s sandwiches tucked away on one side of LL. The best ever! We will stay here again if we return to Oahu.

BEST EXPERIENCE!!

We stayed at the Outrigger Waikiki on the Beach for our honeymoon. It was great! The customer service was excellent! Everytime we passed an employee they were so friendly. The room was very nice and we had an awsome view of the ocean! I would deffinately stay here next time we visit Waikiki.

We were a couple of friends traveling to Hawaii for a little R&R before Thanksgiving. We were placed on the floor directly above a night club or bar. It was loud! As the hotel had many folks and we were going to stay only for two evenings, we did not move.

Make sure your room is further away fro the loud music and night club downstairs.

SOOOO Good

Our visit to the Outrigger was super. The room was spotlesss and the restaurants in house was fabulas. the view of the beach while you were dining was beautiful. So great we are going back to stay in 2 years when the Pro Bowl comes back.to Honolulu. Valet parking was great due to lack of parking. Very accessable to all the great shopping. Geat beach for all.

We had an amazing stay at the Outrigger Waikiki. The room was a bit small but you can’t beat the location. Hotel staff was very friendly and they upgraded us to a partial ocean view room, which I definitely recommend. We took part in their free vow renewal ceremony on our actual 5th anniversary and it was a very special and beautiful ceremony. I highly recommend staying here.

ALOHA!

When 1st arriving I was a little worried because we arrived at night and it was very hustle and bustle around the area where the hotel was located. But I found that the hotel was extremely secure. You cannot access any room floors without a key in the elevator and there are no stair access from the outside except to the pool area. The rooms are very clean and everything was very well maintained. There was a gentleman cleaning the vents in the lobby every day. The only draw back was the jacuzzi and pool are located right by the restaurant. The hotel is located across the street from the International Market which is great for those little gifts you may want to pick up. I would definately recommend this hotel and would stay here again.
