Best Western Blue Sea Lodge

Great Location

My 15 year old daughter and I were visiting San Diego for the first time. My daughter loves the beach so we decided to try the Best Western Blue Sea Lodge. When we travel, I typically have a full agenda planned, so we are at our hotel only in the early morning and after dinner. The Blue Sea Lodge was great for us - in the morning my daughter would jog along the Pacific Beach/ Mission Beach boardwalk, I would grab a cup of coffee and a muffin and watch the passers-by. After a full day out, we would return for the sunset and another stroll along the beach or boardwalk. The hotel was clean, the employees were helpful and polite, parking was available, and there are tons of shops/eateries to walk to. Free high-speed internet was nice to have - late at night my daughter would catch up on email, facebook, etc. Pool and hot tub are nice. I wouldn’t want to spend all day at this hotel, but if you are going to San Diego to spend a lot of time at a hotel, then you are going for the wrong reasons.

We went in early November and there were no crowds, plenty of parking and it was easy to get around. Next time I would plan to go in October, before the time changes, so that it is not dark at 5pm.

Definitely stay there again!!

We loved our stay at the Blue Sea Lodge. It was exactly as explained and the location was right ON the ocean beach. We enjoyed the people watching on the boardwalk from our balcony. The kids loved playing in the ocean, then coming back to the hotel for a swim in the pool. We would definitely stay here again!

This hotel was in a great location. Close to all the attractions we wanted to go see. SeaWorld, Legoland and the SanDiego Zoo. But the best part was the beach!!

Great Beach hotel

Great hotel if you want to be right by the beach. We had a partial beach view room and could watch the surfers going past our window right to the beach. Friendly and helpful front desk staff. We enjoyed sitting in the pool area and watching all of the action right on the beach in front of us.

Location, Location - this hotel is ON THE BEACH, which is exactly what we were looking for. We were willing to give up some of the "fancy" that we are accustomed to in a hotel stay, for a down to earth trip that provided relaxation that only the sound of ocean waves can provide. This hotel is clean, well maintained and within walking distance to multiple restaurants, adult beverage establishments, and night life if you’re interested. A recommended stay.

Incredible location and great ammenities

Hotel had everything you need for a beach vacation. Beachfront, pool, jacuzzi, fridge, microwave, kitchenette, balcony, central location. The only negative was that the carpet, sofa and bedspread were a little ’tired’ but that is to be expected at a beachfront hotel! All in all, I would recommend it to my friends and I would stay there again!

Having the refrigerator, microwave and kitchenette helped save money. We hit Trader Joe’s and had a picnic by the pool for lunch one day!

Great Location.

Beautiful ocean view location and great places to eat with in walking distance. Parking not the greatest...get Small rental car as spaces are very small.Close to other attractions ie: Sea World, Zoo, Mira Mar, Gas Light district.

Great Location!

I loved the location, couldn’t get any closer to the ocean! It is next to a fabulous fish and steak restaurant, had a fantastic meal there. But it was very noisy all night with delivery trucks delivering fresh fish and produce, etc. They had 2 elevators in the building, without which my handicapped mother would not have been able to get to our room. Noise aside, we enjoyed our vacation there very much and would go back again.

If you love to people-watch, this is the place to be. The boardwalk along the ocean is filled with an incredible variety of beach goers. There are coffee shops where you can sit and just gaze at the people and the ocean.

Good hotel

Pleased with our stay. Location was great - beach and restaurants close by. Nice updated bathroom. Large room with couch and wetbar area. Nice balcony. Wouldn’t want to be overlooking pool (too noisy, I think). Also, A/C never worked right. Overall, though had a great time in Pacific Beach. Awesome waves!

Great Location

The hotel’s location in Pacific Beach was perfect - right on the beach, easy walk to the store, bars, shops, etc. Only issue with the room was that the bathroom was obviously converted into a handicap bathroom, and the bathroom door scraped against the door from the hall into the room whenever the bathroom was accessed.

We didn’t like paying for parking. There were many restaurants nearby that you could walk to. We took walks along the ocean.

Take the Brunch cruise on Mission Bay. Go to Point Luma for exceptional scenery. Or just watch the surfers and beach crowd.

Can’t wait to get back, the pool was spectacular looking out over the ocean. It doesn’t get much better than that!Close to everything. A great hotel for people watchers! Right on the Boardwalk!

Right on the beach! Grandkids loved it! Room comfortable, hotel staff very pleasant and helpful. Central location made it easy to get to everything. Would definitely stay there again.

Perfect location

It is hard to choose a hotel especially when you’re not familiar with the area, but this hotel is literally right on the beach- and in a perfect location, close to everything. The room was perfect, the staff were friendly. It was hard to navigate to our room, though. But once we got our luggage in our room, it was fine. I’ll definitely stay here again.

Always the place we stay in SD

We found this hotel over 15 years ago. We have always enjoyed our stay here. It is right on the beach and has a beautiful view of the ocean. Even the partial view rooms are great views!! The only complaint I have is some of the maintenance. Our toilet flusher was broken on the second day of a seven day stay. We called to have it fixed and it was fixed by stuffing toilet paper in a hole. By the sixth day the toilet flooded our room. The hotel mgr fixed this by moving us into a suite that was amazing!!! It was all worth it in the end!! I will definately continue to stay here when I come back to San Diego! The only other small detail is the daily parking fee.

Hotel is on beach and close to many restaurants and shops. Well maintained.

perfect location

Right on the beach. Smallish rooms, but quiet and comfortable. Friendly, helpful staff. Parking lot is a bit tight, but manageable. $12 parking fee was reasonable. 10 minute walk to the bus downtown.

Nice hotel on PB Boardwalk

Arrived early ona Friady and left Sunday morning. Staff was very pleasant and accommodating. (Pacific)Beach is directly outside to the west. Access to beach is primarly through hotel pool area which is small, but nice. Very busy area of Pacific Beach, so hotel rooms all deal w/ some level of noise, especially hotel rooms in north part of building that overlook World Famous (restaurant). However, 10-12 restaurants in easy walking distance. Finally, alert hotel the night before your departure to airport and they have airport transportation for flat $ 30. fee. All in all very nice trip and stay.
