Great location close to everything...the best part may have been the owner of Zacks bar....that guy is is very entertaining and freaking hilarious!! great guy if you stay here hanging out with him at the bar is a must!

Very pleasant hotel, extremely pleasant and helpful staff. Security staff made it a particular point to check on the kids often when they went to the pool in the evenings.

Very nice place to stay. Nice people all around. The front desk, restaurant workers, and shuttle drivers are all top notch. Very helpful and I will stay there again.

Great location, its by most sight seeing locations

great hotel best part about it was it was only a few minutes away from each location i wanted to visit on my vacation. I plan on going back next time i am in san diego

I will never go back

This hotel is in a good location. That’s all that is good about it. The appliances did not work. Call for room service and never got a response. The bed was horrible. I expected much better than this. Even at the front desk, the clerk did not care about our complaints and did nothing about it.

Its old but I like it

I like to stay at this hotel for short personal overnight trips to San Diego. Its quiet, well landscaped, good free parking and right near the interstate 8. The staff are friendy and the price is right. There are numerous places to eat very close by and of course for families on vacation there are the usual sites like Seaworld. Would I stay for a family vacation for more than a day or two ? No.. because the rooms are small, the shower facilities dont work well, the shampoos etc are low quality, the walls are thin etc. and not what you get at other locations in this same chain. But I will keep coming back because I like it better than the othe budget hotels in the area.

Great staff, great value

Although our room was very small, this was a great place for our family of four on a budget. We were without a car, but the hotel’s complimentary shuttle service took us to all the major sites, and it was within walking distance of a major transit station. The thing that made this place really great was the friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful employees - the front desk, the shuttle driver, and the cafe workers all made our stay pleasurable. Definitely a good value!

While at the Harbor, don’t miss the USS Midway. Fascinating!

Perfectly fine motel and good price.

This motel was fine for our one night stay, good size, clean, everything in good shape. I felt I got my money’s worth. I did not use any services, so I cannot comment on that.

First accomodations were unacceptable

Found a critter in our bathroom, in the middle of the night, that prevented us from getting more sleep after we encountered it. Hotel management upgraded our rooms and credited us for that night.

2nd room was great

Due to a problem, we were upgraded after the first night / would not recommend staying if in the lower rate rooms, but the upgraded were very nice and comfortable.

Perfect for the purpose

I was only at the hotel long enough to sleep most days. It was attractive and clean although my room had a faint musty odor. The staff was nice and accommodated my request for a quiet room. The restaurant was not 5-star but quite adequate and pleasant. Several people seemed to enjoy the bar but I did not get a chance to go there. The other clientele was a nice group, no loud and raucus types.

Good value great location

This hotel is in a great location, right off I-8, close to the beach and downtown, with free parking which is unusual for many of the other hotels in the area. The rooms are small but clean and the staff were friendly and helpful. There is a nice pool and jacuzzi. This hotel is a great value and I recommend it for those who are not looking for the largest most luxurious amenities.

Would stay again

Overall, the hotel was fine for the price. Rooms were clean and service was friendly. Can’t go wrong for the price. It was close enough to shopping, resturants and Qualcom stadium.

Small room/Stale smell

The room was really small and the smell was stale. I have stayed there before but not in that area. The area near the pool seems nicer. The rooms need to be updated. Good location.

I booked this hotel for a trip I wanted to do on the cheap and was a little worried. But I was pleasantly surprised. The room was clean, comfortable and quiet. It is not in any kind of neighborhood - on a freeway frontage road where there are only hotels. But everything is accessible by car once you have figured out the complicated on and off ramps. University Avenue - a few minutes drive - has a big selection of restaurants. Downtown is close. I was a bit frustrated by the Wi-Fi which was weak, unreliable, and slow. I loved breakfast at the hotel restaurant outside in the sun.

the price was good... the hotel was perfectly located to every place we wanted to go. the front desk was nice, the hotel rooms were clean, and the grounds clean and beautiful. would definetly stay on our next visit!!!!

Not impressed

The so-called "deluxe" room was very small. We understood that it had a single queen-size bed, but the room was very small. There was only one outlet near the sink, so we had to alternate between plugging in the refrigerator, shaver, coffee maker, and hair dryer.

The room was small but clean. The fridge was a plus. The swimming pool and fitness center were great. The staff were really helpful. We would use the hotel again.

hotel was nice id say on a scale of 1-5 id give it a 3 1/2 stars.it wasnt thew ritz, nor was it the slum of hotels either.pros. was close to most all attractions, i.e the zoo, petco park,balboa park,seaworld,mission beach.cons, hotel restaurant was a bit pricey for breakfast/dinner, the pool could have been a bit cleaner.aside from that not a bad place.

try the diner right before the best western hotel on hotel circle next to the liqor store/mini mart. had good food,breakfast specials at reasonable prices.

Nice place but has issues.

Was a really good looking place to stay. The room had a homey feel. The grounds were lush with a nice layout. Service was friendly and helpful for the most part. The location was prime - from here we could get to any area in a matter of minutes but you do have to know how to get there. Maps are very useful. There were laundry machines, several vending machines, a nice pool and two hot-tubs that seemed to never close at night. That was a very big plus for us after long days of walking and running around. One hot tub wasnt hot at all, the other was nicely hot. They have a restaurant and lounge but no free breakfast. I must have missed that in the description, so no free breakfast. They also claim free wi-fi internet but couldnt log onto it. After many dealings with their tech support, was still unable to fix the problem. We had to go down the way & use another hotels free service, which worked just find. There was no microwave! A big disappointment as we often have leftovers from the days outings. Very poor choice of cable channels, not even HBO but they do offer lots of PAY TV options. Lastly, the room was nice but very tight in space. We were just two people in a two bed room & still felt a bit cramped.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

This area the hotel is in is a great location to spring from to get just about anywhere quickly. The location next to the interstate, which is next to a major "eye" connection is almost perfect to go in any direction you’d need to. FYI - Friars Rd, Camino De La Roma, and Washington streets are very close and have a lot of shopping, restaurants, and gas stations.

South Seas Environment

Our family was very pleased with the hotel and its’ convenient location. We found the room rates reasonably priced, convenient free parking and attractive landscaping. One drawback for me was the soft mattresses. I prefer a firm bed so I did experience back discomfort during my stay.

won’t recommend to a friend

When we arrived to the room we were amazed to see how small it was, We were with 2 kids and we just couldn’t move. there was no room for the crib and we had to put it in front of the door and we had to move the crib any time we wanted to get out of the room. There was a problem with the water presure that make the "taking a shower" very unpleasent. The food in the hotel’s resturant was fair but don’t worth the price. The most unfair situation was in the cheak out when they charge us for a movie at a time we weren’t in the room, and no matter how many times we said that we haven’t used the t.v they didn’t care. The receptionist was rude and indifferent and they charged us for 16 $ for one movie !!!!!!!! that left us very disappointed.

The "sea world" is a perfect place to spend time with the kids (of all ages). The kids can be there for tow days and not get bored.

Can’t Beat It!

My husband and 12-year-old son stayed here during a summer vacation away from Mom. They picked this particular motel because a) we’ve stayed here before and found it to be adequate; and b) it had the best rate in town. My boys were pleasantly surprised to find that the rooms, lobby, and grounds had quite an updating since our last stay. They had such a good time they even stayed an extra day, and when they finally came home they were bed-bug free (we always worry about that--too much 20/20 and Oprah!). For the budget traveler, this is the perfect place to stay: central to San Diego’s main attractions, inexpensive (cheaper than the bargain chain motel), updated decor, friendly staff, and (most importantly) clean!
