Terrific location

Loved the health club and the ability to print out a boarding pass without needing a hotel employee.

Fine Business Class Hotel Perfect location above Grand Central $$$ for "extras"

Nicely appointed but not homey. Wonderful central location with underground access to Grand Central Station with handy shops trains and subways, Accommodating friendly staff. Newish modern decor lovely but lacking in storage and awkward room layout. Old plumbing required 3 visits from maintenance, but they did persist, Got good deal on room with a flight-hotel package, but beware $10 for coffee in the morning, $50 for breakfast and $10/day for internet, no free newspaper, so an odd mix of business-class comforts with luxury pricing. Hey, it’s mid-town!

Good location but expensive

We stayed on the concierge floor. Room was large, modern and comfortable. The lounge was ok but not up to the standard of other Grand Hyatt’s we have stayed at around the world. I was disappointed that a glass of red wine cost $16 plus tax and tip in the lounge. It did have a nice coffee machine.

Best place to stay for NYC newbies, next door to Grand Central Station

Did not hang out in hotel so I cannot tell you about the hotel itself other than, it was clean, comfy, and had a great location. Next door is Grand Central Station, down below has places to eat and shopping-probably the best prices to eat in the entire city. Subway is fairly simple, 4,5,6 will get you to your hotel. The rooms were quiet too unless you open the window to hear the streets. loved my stay

Great Time

We were not subway literate so did most of our travelling by foot. Most of the things we wantd to see were in mid-town, about 50 and 51st street so this meant a lot of walking. The room was great. Getting the businessman’s add-on to the room was a good idea because it included breakfast. We did not carry a laptop but the business center was open and quite easy to use. Bar wsa cozy and service was great. Only negative is that if I wanted to read a newwspaper while my wife was still asleep, I went to the lobby __but there weer very few spots where there was light enough to read by.

Get your show tickets before you arrive. The line at the 50% off ticket area in Times Square was up to 2 to 3 hours loong. We took the full Circle Line boat tour. Be sure to get there early (first tour of the day) because the line when we returned to the dock was extremely long. The Downtown Loop Gray Line tour was great. Our first guide on the bus was a long time native and knew everything. We got off at 9/11 site and when we got back on an hour or so later, the new guide was not as knowledgeable and had an accent which made her hard to understnd.

Pleasantly surprised!

Because of this hotel’s location just outside of Grand Central Station I expected this hotel to be very noisy, but it was actually very quite and comfortable!

Great Hotel in a Great Location - Don’t miss it!

I stayed in this hotel over 20 years ago and its better now than it was then. The service staff is outstanding! They were more than helpful at every possible opportunity. The hotel is clean and right above Grand Central Station. This is a superb location for your trip to New York.

Traveler's tip on nightlife

Time Square is about a 7-10 minute walk up 42nd Street but take it unless the weather is bad. Nobody will bother you. In fact, the New Yorkers we met were great!!! Time Square is better than ever. Just walking around there is entertaining. Avoid hotel bars due to expense. Find local places to go for food and drink.

Excellent location and very helpful staff!

We decided to stay near Grand Central Station this time, and we really lucked out on a great hotel and a brilliant staff. My fiance and I were traveling with our 16 month old son, and the front desk person set up a refrigerator and coffee maker along with the portable crib without us having to ask. That was so thoughtful! And the restaurant staff was just as thoughtful and always brought the baby’s breakfast before ours so that he could eat first. I would definitely recommend this hotel, and we look forward to staying there again on our next trip.

Too noisy.

The room was nice and the location was excellent, but the walls are paper-thin. I could hear the room next door’s converstaion on the phone at all hours. The doors to each room are very heavy, so when they close, they slam and make quite a bit of noise.

Comfort in the midst of confusion

We really enjoyed our stay. Very beautiful lobby and sitting area. The concierge were very helpful. The hotel was very helpful in early check in and late check out due to flights. Perfect location next to Grand Central subways. Only negative was poor soundproofing of the doors between the rooms.

wanted to stay longer

From check-in when I asked for an early check-in all the staff members were helpful. The location was superb--within walking distance to many museums, great shopping and the bus line back to the airport. The room was lovely. Wish I could have stayed longer. Right next door to Grand Central Station which is historic and practical.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

Everyone travels in cabs or buses or sub-way check out the location of must see places before you go and work out the routes to minimize cab fares and traveling time.

Not the worst, but definitely not the best

Halls are very noisey. I do have to say the UN was having numerous meetings that weekend, therefore the hotel was full to the max. The bigwigs seem to be catered to, so the others were left on their own. Although we paid good money as well. Hotel was convenient to other sites, etc. I would give at least one more try.

Spacious, elegant, wonderful place to stay

The Grand Hyatt was a wonderful place to stay. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful. We were surprised and happy with the size of our room. The hotel is adjacent to Grand Central Station, which is beautiful and a great place to grab something to eat.

Traveler's tip on dining

It was wonderful to have Grand Central Station adjacent to the hotel. Many restaurants in New York are represented in the courtyard. It is convenient and fun to try different places and foods without having to travel.

Just ok...

I was disappointed in this hotel. The room smelled damp and stale and although the towels were plush and soft, white lint balls came off of them and stuck to my body. The hotel lobby was super crowded and felt like you were in a train station. The good things about the hotel is that it is in a great location, walking distance to everything and right next door to the subway!

Would Stay Again

This Hotel was the nicest hotel for the money. The rooms were not small or run down like most New York Hotels. It was a great place and I would stay again!

Anniversary Stay

This was our 1st trip to NY City and it was amazing! We arrived at the hotel around 9:30 am and was immedaitely put into a room. We dropped our bags and headed to the city! The hotel was in a great location and the view was great as well. All staff were very nice and eager to help in any way. The only complaint I have was the air conditioning was not as cold as we liked. And when we returned to the room at 11:00 pm it seemed to be warm. We called to front desk and someone came up to repair. Never was all the way right but good enough. I will definately stay here again! Great place and location!!!

Would Stay here again and again.

The hotel staff was so friendly. My husband and I took a red eye flight to New York on a Thursday so we arrived early Friday AM. Once we arrived at the hotel, we were shocked and happy when the staff told us that they had a room available for us to check in early. When ever we needed directions, the staff was very helpful and friendly. The bed was very comfortable and the hotel is located near just about everything. I would highly recommend this hotel to everyone.

Traveler's tip on dining

Make sure to save your money and visit Bistro Marketplace which is just up the street from the hotel on Park Ave. It is so dirt cheap and the food is sooooo good. They serve Breakfast, lunch & dinner. For both my husband to eat a good breakfast and both had coffee, it was under $15. Good luck finding that any where else in New York unless you eat just at street vendors.

great location in the City!

This was our second stay at the Grand Hyatt, through Expedia, and we had a corner room that was clean, quiet, and in good condition! The bed was very comfortable...we like this location and being so near the subway at Grand Central Station is a plus...and within walking distance of the Theatre area!
