We stayed here after X-Mas and had a very nice time. The resort is very large and the room was nice as well.

A nice place to stay

We have stayed at a number of places in Rancho Bernardo and while The Inn would not be my number 1 choice for a return visit, it was nice, well maintained and relatively convenient. I must admit the $10 a day add-on fee for self-parking is more than a bit irritating!

Package Deals

If you stay here and enjoy golf & spa, I would recommend upgrading to a golf and spa package. We had an unlimited golf package that was excellent and it allowed us to play on 3 different golf courses! The spa was new and was also very nice. Sunday brunch at El Bizcocho is a MUST!

Great Place

YES stay here.. Really incredible grounds, nice staff. This is an older resort so remember that, but the charm is there. Modern rooms, clean grounds, pools great.. I would stay and not even think twice.

Overrated - Poor service

We stayed at the Rancho Bernardo Inn for one weekend to play some tennis and enjoy the spa services. The first indication things were not going well is when we checked in. The hotel had no record of our Expedia travel reservations and had us go to one of their computers to download our expedia reservations. After we printed out the reservations , it took them 20 minutes to figure out how to get us a room. The first room they took us to had two twin beds, which we had specifically booked a king size bed. It took another 15 minutes for them to find us a room with the king bed. The next day our tennis reservation was also messed up by the hotel because of a conflict with their spa services that are located right next to the tennis courts. They made no attempt to resolve the tennis fiasco. The next day when we went to the spa for our couples spa treatment that reservation was also messed up. They had split our "couples" spa treatment into separate treatments at different times during the day that conflicted with us leaving in the afternoon and we cancelled the treatment. Overall, its a nice looking hotel that is probably better for conventions than for individual travelers looking for an upscale hotel with personal services. Double check all of your reservations with this hotel or they’ll likely mess up your reservations.

Not a great place to stay with kids. It is a remote location and has a lot of senior citizens. The service doesn’t cater well to kids.

hotel review

It was a short trip from the airport. Check-in took less than 5 minutes. The site features a couple pools, foutains, and balcony seating from your room.

Does not measure up

This is a 4 star hotel, so my expectations were high. We travel quite a bit, and have been to many hotels in many cities in the US and western Europe. This hotel did not measure up to a 4 star status. No rugs on the bathroom floor, no wine glasses in the room, basic 1 star toiletries, nothing special. Additionally, two mornings in a row, there was a man knocking on our door at 7 am claiming that our shower was leaking on the room below and he was from engineering and needed access to our room to fix the problem. Strange man, 7 am, and me standing there in a towel. The front desk should have called. And, the problem should have been fixed the first day. Parking is a problem as the hotel hosts many corporate events. Getting to the hotel is somewhat of a problem as you need to drive through a residential neighborhood to get there - lots of stop signs. Finally, our final bill was presented and some other guest had charged a lunch to our room. I’ve had better experiences in 3 star hotels.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

Stay somewhere else. Nothing special about this hotel. Restaurant was too expensive and nothing special. Room was not 4 star quality.
