Comfortable Stay

The room was really cute and cozy but very spacious at the same time. Too bad we only needed the room for the night. I would recommend this hotel to anyone. It was really comfortable.

Quiet but very beautiful

Surprised to find the hotel in the middle of an industrial area. There was not much else around. The hotel made up for that. We enjoyed our stay.

The hotel was located in an industrial area of San Diego. Perfect for the business travelrs but not very scenic for the tourists

Top level facility

A little out of the downtown area but defintiely a First-Class facility. My one-bedroom suite was as accomodating and comfortable as anywhere I have stayed.

Like a one BR apartment

Aside from the fact the ice maker in the in-room freezer was noisy, I have no complaints at all.

Great Customer Service

I would recommend this hotel. Really nice people and the rooms are very clean. The area around us was quiet and clean. The bed in the room however was very uncomfortable!! Sleep on the couch. But everything else was perfact.

Will visit again!

Went down to San Diego for only a weekend. Saw this place was very close to all the places i planned to be over my stay. (concert at the college and kayaking in la jolla) The staff we all very friendly and the condition of the hotel was exceptional, and i couldn’t beat the price! I was expecting a dive for what i paid per night, and i was extremely mistaken. The hotel all in all was great. I would highly recommend the hotel to anyone i know and i will be visiting again!

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Very close to all the local attraction, great place to stay just outside the mainstream hustle and bustle.

Big and comfortable room

The Woodfin was located in a quiet area and was neat and clean. The room was large and the bed was very comfortable. When we had noise above us and called the desk, it was taken care of immediately. The hotel is not close to downtown but that is what we wanted. The restaurant was good and there was an outside eating area too, and a nice pool. It was our first visit to San Diego and it was great to stay there.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

We were only 15 minutes from the downtown area and near the highway, close to the racetrack at Del Mar, and it was easy to drive up the coast for a relaxing time along the ocean.

Excellent hotel, easy access, great breakfast

This is an excellent hotel. It’s very clean, rooms were comfortable and spacious. The room has an office desk. Internet is available in the room for a $6.00 day/use. Wireless is available in the lobby. Also in the lobby they have available a couple of workstations with printers (and free of charge), so that you can print maps, tickets, whatever. Depending on the room you book you get breakfast, and it is totally worth it, specially if you have kids going along. Definitelly recommend it!

Everything was good, except housekeeping

First that all I will start with the good things: a)The front desk staff was excellent, friendly, accommodating and helpful. b)Hotel public areas were in good conditions in matters of cleaning and maintenance. c)Food was really good, taste, presentation and prices. d)Restaurant staff courteous and prompt. Sadly there was one department whose performance was less than acceptable, considering every one else did what they were supposed to do, it is a big shame that they ruin everything. The cleaning during our stay was so poor, that it would really surprise me to know they have any cleaning procedures. The maid would came in, made the bed, folded towels (sometimes not even that) and left. After a couple days I asked the front desk if they could let know housekeeping that our room need it to be cleaned thoroughly and that included vacuum the carpets. Obviously nothing happened!! Then I asked Stephanie front desk clerk again, and she answer me Of course, if they do not clean it properly let me know, Well guess what?? the next morning I was at the room when the maid came and did the same, made beds and leave towels. I even said the maid that we would leave the room so she could vacuum the carpets, by the time i got to the elevator she was done. Then I figure it out that maybe that was the way they were thought to clean. Room 363 needs an update!!

Worthy of serious consideration

My family and I moved from San Diego several years ago so we were familiar with the area but never stayed at a hotel. We picked this one because of its location (easy access to most places). At first we were concerned by the limited number of services (e.g., restaurants, stores, etc.) nearby but that turned out to be a blessing in disguise because the noise from the outside was nonexistent. This is essential if you have a young child who sleeps lightly. The room (1br suite) was larger than we had expected and was very clean. The staff were very helpful and accommodating. I forgot my iphone charger at home and while they didn’t have extras to borrow, the manager offered up to charge through his computer. My only nit (very minor) is that they didn’t have a portable crib available for our son, but we managed to work around it. Overall, we were very happy with our stay and would go back again.

Good Hotel to get away from things

The hotel was just about everything they said it was. Comfortable room and quite. Although located in a large business area, it was nice to get away from the chaos of hotel circle and downtown. If you are looking for close proximity to the attractions, this is not it. But if you are looking for a nice hotel at a decent rate, this one works.

Dated needs remodel!

We were disappointed because the hotel was older and rundown compared to the picture on the web site. It had odors in the hallways and outdated and dirty looking carpet. The first room that we were given had bed linens that didn’t look clean. They had hair and wrinkles in the sheets and pillow cases. We called the front desk and were given another room but it was the same (dirty looking linens too). There was traffic noise (it’s off a main street). The location is too far to drive through rush hour traffic to the beach towns. I would not call this a three star hotel!

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

I’ve stayed at other hotels west of I-5 and found it easier to get around.

Overall experience was wonderful! Would recommend!

Stayed at the Woodfin during our last vacation to San Diego. Family of 4 and a puppy. The main reason I picked this hotel was because of our puppy. Great hotel. Early check in was not a problem. Staff very friendly and helpful, even printed out directions to places we wanted to go to. Great for families and pet lovers. Wonderful location, restaurants and shops close by. The only downside was no room service.

Great for the price

We took a family vacation and decided to stay there for a few days. Overall the stay was great. They need to update the tvs and the carpet. The tv volume wasn’t working right and was rigged to get it to work. The carpet looked like it hadn’t been steam cleaned for quite some time if ever and was really worn. The rest of the hotel was great. The lobby was beautiful and there was a little store for items you might have forgotten. The grill had great food. The bed was comfortable. Service was good for the most part. I had to ask for extra towels everyday because they never left enough for 4 people and 1 time I had to call twice as they never showed up the first time. Overall, it was pretty clean and in a nice area, everyone was friendly and the price was reasonable. I would definately stay there again.

Overall we were pleased

This is a nice hotel and was very convenient for us as we were visiting family in La Jolla (10 minute drive). The front desk staff was great. The only complaint we had was with housekeeping and maintenance. After checking in to one room, we discovered the air-conditioning didn’t work and neither did the shower. We had to move, which is always a pain. In the second room, everything worked. The cleaning during our stay was not great. It looked like they came in, made the bed, folded the towels (or gave us clean ones, and left. The bathroom floor, mirror, kitchen didn’t look like they’d been touched. And, for some reason, they never replaced empty shampoo bottles or toilet paper. I had to call the front desk to request shampoo and toilet paper. They were very nice about it, sending someone to our room immediately. They also took a restaurant charge off our bill to make up for the inconvenience. I didn’t mind the $6.00 a day for internet as many hotels in San Diego charge a lot more. Our room was quiet and the bed was comfortable. It was nice having a kitchen. The suite felt very spacious. I would stay here again.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

Keep in touch with the front desk. I felt like they really wanted us to enjoy our stay.

Good hotel

Clean and comfortable room at least for the night I stayed. Some smell in the hallway, but not in the room. Close to Qualcomm but a few miles from the La Jolla village center and UCSD. Price is reasonable, I think.

Nice Place

This hotel was close enough to the attractions in San Diego to be convenient, and far enough away to be "quiet". I loved the neighborhood, which seemed much safer than other hotel neighborhoods we have stayed in, in the past.

Very impressed!!!

I love the hotel and staff. The staff helped with everything we needed, and print off direction for my husband and I.

The suite that we stayed in was great for a family with children. There was a big kitchen for cooking meals.
