"I love the area around the Clarion Hotel Savoy, but it is an aging property, and my room was not properly equipped when I arrived. While I had bath and hand towels, there was no bath mat. Even though the room is small, there was room for a hot water heater and mugs for drinking tea or coffee. Nor any tea or coffee provided guests. There was just a single glass. There was only one hanger on the pegs provided for clothes. Happily, the young man on reception the night I arrived (Henrik(?) so...

"This is a nice hotel, as long as you realize that the location is fairly isolated. Specifically, there is only one other restaurant within walking distance and it's a 10-minute cab ride to museums and downtown. We had all of our breakfasts at the hotel was well as several dinners and all were good. Bar has limited hours but the front desk has a limited selection of bottled beer. If the weather is good, recommend taking advantage of the beautiful back deck. "

"We had a good stay at the Vulkan although the room was looking a little “tired” round the edges. For a hotel that would be used by a lot of tourists, they had a strangely early breakfast time during the week - finishing at 0930! Location is excellent however with easy walking distance to Grunerlokka for great bars/restaurants and even into Oslo city centre along the Akerselva river."
