About this property
Perfect for Hunters - "Hard Rock Cabin" near Aberdeen - Sleeps 8
PLEASE NOTE: PLEASE NOTE: Richmond Lake is temporarily drawn down for the 2026 spillway project, so normal boating, fishing and swimming are not currently available. The cabin remains fully accessible.
***HUNTERS*** Bring your dogs and enjoy our "HARD ROCK CABIN". It has everything you will need after a great day of hunting in northeast South Dakota. It's only 13 miles northwest of Aberdeen in real pheasant country, with public hunting access in Brown/Edmunds/McPherson/Spink counties (all within a 30-mile radius of our location).
Our two-level, 2-bedroom, 2-bath cabin on Richmond Lake with sleeping capacity for 8 hunters has amenities perfect for your hunting trip: Upon accessing our lower-level, you will find a 12’ x 16’ shed, providing a place to hang your coats, dry your boots, and kennel your dogs. In our outside covered patio/bar area you’ll find two outdoor counter spaces with water available (for meal prep or cleaning today's limit), a Blackstone griddle and a gas BBQ grill for cooking up an evening meal, seating for up to 12, two outdoor refrigerators to keep your food and beverages cold, as well as a chest freezer in the shed. At the Hard Rock Cabin with its approximately 1,250 square feet, two complete indoor kitchens, additional lower-level sleeping space, a one-acre lot across the road with ample parking for trucks/trailers and a place to run your dogs, it's an especially convenient home base for hunting groups, families and extended stays.
The MAIN LEVEL features two private bedrooms, each with a comfortable queen bed, dresser and closet. You'll also find a full bathroom with a walk-in shower, a fully equipped kitchen and dining area, and a comfortable sunroom with east-facing views toward Richmond Lake. The sunroom includes a sofa, loveseat, recliners and Smart TV, DVD player and a selection of DVDs.
The WALK-OUT LOWER LEVEL provides additional sleeping space with a full-size futon featuring an 8-inch innerspring mattress, plus a twin daybed with a twin trundle. There's also another fully equipped kitchen, a second full bathroom with a tub/shower, dresser and additional seating and dining area. The lower-level TV includes a DVD player with streaming capability.
A washer and dryer (detergent included) are available for guest use, and linens, towels, basic soaps, and paper products are provided. Ground coffee/filters, basic spices and pantry staples are provided. There's electric baseboard heating throughout the cabin, as well as a 'through-the-wall' A/C & heating unit in the main level dining/kitchen area. The 100-gallon water heater ensures you will always have a hot shower.
When you walk outside through the covered patio/bar area and towards the lake, our custom-made wood-burning firepit is sure to catch your eye, inviting you to sit and relax by the fire in the South Dakota cool, autumn air (firewood available (honor system)). The shed also houses a chest freezer - particularly handy for hunting groups.
Bringing trucks or a trailer? As mentioned previously, there's plenty of parking, including additional space on our one-acre property directly across the road. The one-acre property also includes electricity for campers, available for $30 per night, per hook-up. Water connection is also available before freezing temperatures arrive in the fall.
The covered patio is where our cabin got its name. Inspired by the Hard Rock Cafes we've enjoyed over the years, we've decorated the space with signs and memorabilia collected from our experiences at Richmond Lake and elsewhere.
STAY CONNECTED: High-speed Wi-Fi is provided throughout the cabin. Depending on your carrier, cellular service can be spotty in the Richmond Lake area so you may want to enable Wi-Fi calling on your phones. There is no cable or satellite TV; entertainment is available through your own streaming services and our provided DVDs.
PROPERTY NOTES: The on-site shed loft is a private owner area and not available for guest use. A portion of the landscaping/retaining wall is awaiting repair; for guest safety, please do not enter the clearly marked and roped off area. This does not affect normal access to the cabin or guest-use outdoor areas.
