"We booked The Babette for my brother’s family of 6 and me. We were so happy with the spacious, large, and clean accommodations. I stayed upstairs and had the king bed/bathroom and access to both patios. My brother and his wife stayed in the room with the Queen bed (bathroom attached as well) and all four of my nephews staying in the room with two queen beds. There was water for us to drink, with a spare 5 gallon container and plenty of dishes to use (no dishwasher) for any food you want to make on your own. There aren’t laundry facilities but Melly, our host, let us know about Martha’s (a very short walk—maybe 3-4 blocks) and we dropped off two loads at 9am and were told to come back at 3 for them. It cost about 7 USD for each load. We loved this location. Everything was within walking distance. Super close to the market (across the park at the back of the house) and lots of restaurants to eat in, and tour companies. Mayawalk tours was 2 blocks down the same road from us—we used them for a couple tours. My nephews loved leaving on their own and heading to little times and markets to buy coke in the glass bottles. They were sad to leave The Babette and the town as this place felt safe and they liked leaving on their own for their own quick adventures. We absolutely loved our accommodations and the price we paid. It’s a great place to stay! Oh—AC units in every room that worked extremely well. Thanks, Melly! "I absolutely loved my stay at the Drift Inn in Cayo. Bike rental was cheap and convenient, though I wish they had bike locks. Air conditioning was so nice to have. Great atmosphere, live music and karaoke on weekends, staff were all very social and welcoming. Made me feel right at home. Their restaurant also had some of the best food I’ve had in all of Belize.
If you like Belizean culture, sometimes they have the Garifuna Collective play a concert, sadly I missed it!

"This property is extremely clean and pleasant. I felt it was an excellent choice for the price. The above ground pool off a nice deck is clean and refreshing. The bedrooms are all air conditioned and comfortable with comfortable mattresses. The rest of the house is not air conditioned but has numerous fans. We did not have a car and walked into town but the walk back is uphill and we often got a cab or scheduled a ride back especially in the dark. "

"This property was absolutely amazing! The staff was over-the-top with their friendliness, hospitality, and service! A pool side plate of nachos was served with white linen service. We ate several dinners there and everyone in our family thought it was the best meal of our trip!! Portions were generous as well. Excursions arranged through the hotel were on point and competitive with other excursions booked elsewhere. The hotel itself was a piece of art with all the mahogany and wood finishes. Would book this place again in a heartbeat and would recommend it to anyone traveling to Belize. "

"This was the adventure we were hoping for! We visited with our teens (14 and 16). It is such a beautiful location and we really enjoyed seeing wildlife up close! We saw agouti, river otters, howler monkeys, bats, toucans, and several other beautiful birds during our stay. The rope swing and being able to get in the river was very nice. Mike and the ladies at Cohune are so nice! Mike is very knowledgeable about the area and is happy to share. The food was also amazing! Highly recommend breakfast and dinner at the kitchen. We were a little worried about staying with no AC, but the cabana cools down nicely at night. We had no issues with biting insects. The cabana was tidy, just keep in mind it's has a thatched roof and louvered windows so a little dust might come in. Completely worth the experience and highly recommend staying here! "

Our stay at Villa Cayo was nothing short of perfect. From the moment we arrived, it was clear that every detail had been thoughtfully considered to create a relaxing and memorable experience. The villa itself is stunning—immaculately clean, beautifully maintained, and surrounded by lush, vibrant nature that made every day feel like a dream.
What truly made our stay unforgettable was our incredible host, Virginia. She welcomed us with such warmth and kindness that we immediately felt at home—like we were staying with family. Virginia is not only thoughtful and attentive to every need, but also a joy to be around. She took the time to educate us on the beautiful plants growing around the villa, sharing her knowledge with such enthusiasm and passion. Conversations with her were always fun and engaging, and her genuine care for her guests shone through in everything she did.
We felt completely cared for and truly connected, which made our time at Villa Cayo all the more special. We can’t recommend this place highly enough. If you’re looking for a peaceful getaway with the most thoughtful host you could hope for, this is it. We would return in a heartbeat!

"An incredible and special place that has filled our hearts over the past 4 days and made the beginning of our trip to Belize something we will never forget. The Treehouse is even MORE impressive than the listing or pictures could ever do justice. Attention to detail is in every corner and the property is so well cared for and located in such a beautiful setting. Ms. Catherine, the owner is a gracious host. She communicated brilliantly and helped us stay organized prior to our arrival (our first time in Belize) and has made sure you will have anything you need in the house once you get here. We booked our tours through her recommendations and she arranged everything on our behalf and the tour guides and operators were so thoughtful and took great care of us. Tito is the care taker of the property. He greeted us when we arrived and showed us everything. He checked on us each night to ensure we were good and didn’t need anything. The house is immaculate and just beautiful. "

"I wish we would have planned more time here vs at the coast. Cohune Palms was the highlight of our Belize trip. This place was paradise!! We were reluctant at first due to no a/c but the weather cooled off at night and was perfect. Fans during the day kept everything enjoyable. The river next to the resort was beautiful and a blast to swim in and enjoy the rope swing. We have 50x the mosquitos here in California…with a little bug spray you barely even notice them there. Mike, the owner of the property, has built a truly perfect paradise over the past 25 years and you won’t find a nicer host. He knows everything about the area. He and his crew will cook for you every meal if you want so you really don’t need to leave the property but the area is safe and the people are so friendly we walked or took or rental car all over without any issues. I can’t recommend this place enough. We had the whole place to ourselves and I can’t believe it’s not on every major travel site. Truly a hidden gem that I hate to review and spoil the secret but Mike deserves all the success in the world so I’m doing it :) "
