This was a brilliant choice, quiet, pool and lagoon was perfect, the local restraunts and cafe handy, just very insistant on reservations. With bicycle, scooter and car hire available getting out and about was easy. Wasnt prepared for the self catering option at the Retreat and the local stores provided options for dining in. There are two restaurants and a little coffee shop all within walking distance. Die Zimmer haben alles was man braucht inkl Ventilator, Kühlschrank und Geschirr. Die Lage zum Flughafen ist praktisch, ebenso zur BlueLagoon. Der Strand ist sehr ruhig und es stehen Sonnenliegen zur Verfügung. Our every request was immediately dealt with. Dylan, the manager, is a sweet man with a huge smile. The resort is located on a very pretty beach/lagoon. They have free use if kayaks, paddle boards, and bikes. They also rent cars and scooters. Got a room without air conditioning which is unbearable with the high level of humidity. We had to ask for one with the air conditioning and a kitchenette- wonderful! The tours are very expensive so we just stayed swim in the lagoon, make use of the free kayaks and the pool on site. Staff are helpful and friendly. Very basic cabin. Office open only til noon. Left our bags told we could collect late in the afternoon. All locked up. No answer on the provided phone. The crankiest (non-Aitutakian) man allowed us to get our bags saying obviously it’s all locked because office hours are til 12\. Completely unnecessary behaviour and attitude to guests who just paid heartily to stay there. And the roosters were a bit much at 3am. Overall the staff were great. The lagoon right out my door was absolutely STUNNING!! We had a 2brm bungalow ocean front. Would definitely stay again. Rented a car from them . Very reasonable. Boatshed and blue lagoon restaurant walking distance. Make sure to take mozzie repellent and cream.
