![One of a few places you can see nesting and hatching turtles in this area.  The area is protected and you can only go there with local guides from the research centre on-site, in organised groups.  There are rules, which are explained in English and Arabic and the Omani guides take them very seriously - which is refreshing.  This is one of the few beaches where you will see pretty much no rubbish, so the reserve part is actually working.  The pre-dawn trip is just magic and well worth the excruciatingly early rise time!  Since i was last there in 2011, I believe there are more accommodation options available.  The rooms in the centre itself were clean and minimal, but had everything you needed.  Being mostly tiled, it was very noisy if people were being noisy in the common areas outside the rooms.  Breakfast was basic, but it was included and sufficient.
