Booked two bedrooms for family and both had issues. Bedroom 204 - leaking air conditioning unit and a huge stain on the carpet. I cannot believe the cleaner had not flagged the issue prior to our stay. The dripping meant we had an horrendous nights sleep. Bedroom next door - missing a panel in the shower and meant the floor was soaking wet. Both rooms should have never been let out and something you would not expect from a Holiday Inn room. We did complain to Reception next morning and he was sympathetic (offered us a complimentary hot drink). However, this does not cover the horrendous stay - will NEVER book to stay here again- be warned the standards in this hotel are sub-standard. Awful Holiday Inn rooms!!!

A very special place to stay as this was the family home of Florence Nightingale. We stayed in two bedrooms which were the rooms that she grew up in before she went to Crimea. This is not a hotel. It’s more of a guest house with a few of the rooms rented out on a nightly basis. The property is accessed through several gates so it’s on very private land. The views are amazing of the local countryside and there’s a very beautiful garden around the house and sheep in the fields a little further away. The host at the House house may change in the future but we had a lovely lady from Ukraine called Svitlana who made us most welcome staying at the house. She made us a wonderful breakfast in the morning to order and did everything we asked to help and made our stay very pleasant. Beware there are no TV in the bedroom but there was a TV in the lounge downstairs. Some of the downstairs rooms could be used for an intimate breakfast with great views into the countryside. The Location was perfect for visiting Matlock and Matlock Barth with the attractions of Abraham Heights,fish and chip shops along the river Derwent, etc and it was a 30 minute drive to Chatsworth and Bakewell and Haddon Hall. Overall I would highly recommend a few nights at this location especially given the hospitality from Svitlana and the historic nature of the house

Absolutely awful experience. Didn't receive any check in information and when contacting their staff, only the out of hours team were available. They did not have access to any booking information which meant I spent the entire day calling to try and escalate and obtain information for check in. It made my day extremely stressful when I had a huge event the next day, needed to get into the apartment nice and early to freshen up, eat and have an early night. Lots of stairs which were not communicated, works going on in the building, extremely hot with no aircon. When complaining about the check in process, it was noted there is a known error with expedia customers not receiving the information.' that is all. Would not recommend staying there with such an appalling process.
