"Small and quaint "
The staff was great, very friendly. Terri was very welcoming. Ruth did an amazing job of taking care of us. The resort was on the smaller size which made it very relaxing. We booked our adventures from there so it was easy. Definitely would go back. Thanks White Sands Cove

We came to see ruins and caves and dispite the rain had a great time. From the friendly helpful staff at Windy Hills to canoeing the caves at Barton Creek with Selmo the guide from Xplore Island Tours it was a great trip and we just had to extend it one more night at Windy Hills Resort Would highly recommend highly resort.

"Secluded ecolodge in the middle of the forest"
I had high expectations from the phenomenal reviews here and Gaia exceeded all of them. It's the perfect place to go if you're looking to unplug, get a little adventure, experience the real Belize, but not "sacrifice" on all the comforts and luxuries you want out of a vacation. "Glamping" comes to mind. The negative reviews on this site are few are far between, but if you're anything like me, have a tendency to perseverate on them. After having spent 5 nights at Gaia, I wanted to address them. They have only 1 menu, but after 5 nights there were still several meals that my husband and I didn't get to try. Because it's a secluded location, you'll end up eating all your meals on site. But I found the prices to be very reasonable. Granted I live in Manhattan, but there's no way I could have that quality of dining experience and fresh taste for those kinds of prices back home. Yes, it's a 2.5 hr bumpy car ride from the airport. But as long as you're expecting it, it's nothing. Plus, you get to see the country, so think of it as part of the experience. And yes, there is only wifi in the main lodge, no TVs on site. But if you traveled all the way out to the Belizean jungle and want to Netflix in your hotel room all day, you probably need to rethink your vacationing methods. The wifi in the lodge is plenty fast to check emails, text, all the basics to stay connected with the world back home. You'll definitely want to do some excursions if staying for more than a couple nights

"Fantastic!"
Stunning location in the rainforest. Well thought out and luxurious rooms. Staff were a delight and the restaurant food was decent without being amazing. Loved the little hike to the gazebo and walking through the orange groves. Absolute highlight was going on a dawn bird watching tour and seeing 2 different types of Toucans!

"Almond Beach Resort, Hopkins"
We had a wonderful time at the Almond Beach Resort. Our cabana was on the beach, literally 20 paces from the water! The pool was lovely, the staff friendly, and the room was gorgeous. The hotel provides free bikes to ride into Hopkins, which takes about 20 minutes down a sand road. The restaurant food was high quality, which was a good thing, because there were few other places nearby to eat. All in all, a fantastic experience.

"Resort is Outstanding"
My friends and I, who I travelled with are experienced and regular travelers, so when I say this was an exceptional experience it means a lot. The staff was incredible, from the front desk to the wait, bar and grounds staff, were off the wall great, the rooms were perfect, the food was great, and service exceptional. We will definitely return. A lot of our staff was from X'tan Ha, so that may be a consideration also, but we can't go wrong with Costa Blu.

"Lovely modern resort and great staff"
I stayed at Coco Beach on a vacation with my father. We had an ocean view suite and they put us on the first level when I expressed concern about my father getting up the stairs. It was a tremendous spot just step from the pool. The room was very nice and well-appointed with AC and a full kitchen. It had a nice private patio. Where we could have our morning coffee. I was concerned that it was too far from town but it wasn't a problem. There were a number of resorts nearby with restaurants and Captain Morgan's even has a casino. It was a reasonable drive into town with our golf cart. My only criticism was that on our first night we went to the poolside bar for dinner and they had some club music booming. I was afraid that we'd gotten ourselves into some terrible Hard Rock type resort. They did turn the music down when I asked and most of the music I heard the rest of the trip was Carribean resort appropriate.

"Nice Hotel in an old Colonial House"
We went twice: first room (standard) nice, big, but moldy and needed maintenance. Second room (suite) completely renovated and very nice. All told we liked the hotel very much. The staff is very nice, but not specifically trained. We are glad we chose this hotel rather that the more modern ones. Price was a little steep, but then I think everything is a little expensive in Belize.

Best and Worst Times to Visit Belize

If you’re in search of warm temperatures and clear skies, plan a visit to Belize between November and May. This is the country’s dry season when you can expect 80-degree F weather. But because it’s the perfect season to head to the beach, the majority of tourists visit during this time.

Hurricane season lasts from June to October. Even if a hurricane doesn’t hit the coast, this period is considered Belize’s rainy season, especially from August to October. Temperatures usually linger around 70 and 80 degrees F during this wet season. If you don’t mind a chance of showers, you’ll score cheaper rates during these months.

    Things to Do

During your visit, soak up the sunshine and balmy temperatures at one of the many beaches in Belize. For serene shores lined with palm trees, make your way to the pristine coast along Placencia Peninsula, or lounge on the shores of Hopkins Beach. Next, grab your flippers and dive into the water at Caye Caulker, which boasts unrivaled snorkeling and scuba diving turf. Ambergris Caye and Blue Hole are two other popular dive spots with barrier reefs teeming with sea life.

In addition to its picturesque landscapes, Belize is home to a number of ancient Mayan ruins. Visit these sites to uncover the nation’s past and Mayan culture. Begin your adventures at Xunantunich, which features more than 25 palaces and temples, and then check out the scenic views from the structures at Cahal Pech. Don’t miss Lamanai, which is one of the largest Maya ceremonial spots, and then marvel at the remains at Barton Creek Cave. After exploring all day long, kick back at one of the best Belize resorts in town.
