"This is a beautiful old hotel property. It has great bones and the rooms have been updated and modernized nicely. That said, there are some very quirky aspects to the property. Firstly, there is no reception - just an automated machine that provides a key card. "Conveniently located in the center of Jena, right next to tram and bus stops, a supermarket, restaurants, pharmacy, etc. Beautiful views of buildings built in 1800s and the modern Jena Tower. Within 10 min walking distance to many destinations, such as the Zeiss Planetarium, Observatory, cathedrals, etc. Very clean rooms, spacious bathroom, fast internet."

"The Mercure Hotel in Gera was good business and comuter hotel. The surroundings were a bit eerie because a lot the buildings gave off a cold and industrial feel that were remnants from the Soviet Era. The bathtub in my room was a bit high and slipped and hurt myself get out of the high bathtub. The parking was also tricky because the door to the faciity was very quick. The consierges were frendlier and provided me with an iron an ironing board to get prepared for two business meeting in the Gera and Thurigen area later that day."

Ansonsten war es nachts erfreulich ruhig.Wir konnten gemütlich auf der Terrasse hinter dem Haus frühstücken. Die Küche ist gut ausgestattet mit Herd, Backofen und Micro. Bei der Wärme haben wir es sehr genossen, draußen zu sitzen.Weimar war unser eigentliches Ziel, eine 30 min. Fahrt bringt einen ans Ziel.Im Sommer gerne wieder! Vielen Dank."

"Rooms need either air conditioning or better ceiling fans. When it gets hot, there is no way to get proper airflow. If you open the windows, the insects will come inside your room. Please also add a microwave to the rooms. Shower was clogged with hair and the water could not evacuate. I had to unclog the shower otherwise the water level would have risen and gone into the bedroom area."
