Stay at Butler Lake House
The house is absolutely beautiful and the hosts were always available when needed. The drive to the actual hosue once you enter the gate is steep and the dock is a bit of a short walk. The place was clean and nice. Great place overall.

We had an amazing time celebrating my boyfriend’s birthday and new years with friends here at this beautiful house. We spent the days snowboarding and then at night spent time playing cards and hot tubbing in the house at night. 10 out of 10 recommend this house to stay!

Great stay
Very accommodating house with everything you need for the kitchen and extra blankets, etc. Great communication with the hosts and detailed instructions for everything in the house and the dock. The dock is down a steep hill but doable in a car back and forth. We brought our boat, kept it at the dock and had a great time! Would definitely rent again.

Beautiful lake house!
Spent time on the water - brought inflatable paddle boards. Elderly or inform people will struggle to get down to the lake - it’s a steep walk or drive. Cabin is well-appointed and attractively decorated.

Peaceful & Remote
We loved the view from the house – the view and the lake itself are spectacular! The house itself is very well appointed, clean, and welcoming. The game room is fantastic and there’s plenty of games and DVDs for indoor entertainment. The coffee station is a nice bonus for anyone that wants to indulge. We very much appreciated all the little details! The house is very close to the recreation areas of Lake Watuga where you can swim and enjoy a small beach area. I suppose if you rent a boat or kayaks it is even more enjoyable (we didn’t.) We also enjoyed visiting Grandfather Mountain, Linville Falls, and the alpine mountain coaster in Banner Elk. These are all within an hour of the house and were fun to visit. We also enjoyed a great little restaurant near Linville Falls (The Tin Trout). This home is in one of the most scenic, beautiful areas we’ve ever seen! Christy was easily accessible to and accommodating to our requests. There are some cons to the house which I wish we knew before booking so we hope to inform others: First, the road up to the house is very steep with switch backs and our Ford F150 had to do a few multi-point turns in 4 wheel drive. While the view of the lake is amazing, the access to it is very difficult. The steps down are more than most can handle. The pictures are deceiving. You will not be going back and forth from the lake to the house. You can also drive down, but again, our truck barely made the turns. Smaller cars might be ok.

Beautiful Cabin
This property met all our needs. It was extremely spacious and offered a lot (coffee bar, fire pit, hot tub, spacious rooms and a beautiful view!)The steps to boat ramp were pretty steep but we didn’t need them. Driveway was steep with two very sharp turns that my hubby mastered. Morning coffee on the patio is a must! Would definitely come back. A big shoutout to our host for making our stay very comfortable and relaxing!

Great Mountain Cabin
There are a lot of great things to say about this cabin. This Cabin had everything a family needed. It was probably the best stocked property I’ve staid in. From the hotel like travel soaps/shampoos to the stocked coffee bar. Both of which were unexpected but came in clutch. There was plenty of other amenities including the very large hot tub, which was very clean and in great condition, the pool table and card table. The owner communication was definitely above par. They made great and knowledgeable recommendations on boat launches and marinas nearby and were very understanding with some other last minute requests. Even though the stairs down to the dock were steep, that does little to diminish the great things this Cabin has to offer. Highly recommend staying here.

Get Way
It was a great place to enjoy the beauty of East TN. I love feel of just getting away from the rest of the world and enjoy the lake and it’s beautiful mountains. The steepness of the route to and from the dock is something to get use to but grow up in East TN I’m very aware of it. All and all great place.

We had a fantastic stay at this beautiful lake cabin. The cabin had everything our group needed for a hassle free relaxing weekend including a well stocked kitchen and a Kureg coffee bar was an added bonus! The owner also supplies a guide book to the cabin and the amenities which is very helpful and thorough which was very much appreciated. Highly recommend this property and hope to return to visit it again soon.

Family Lake Vacation
Awesome cabin at a beautiful lake. My family and I have been to several different Tennessee and Ohio lakes and Watauga Lake is definitely the most beautiful. The cabin was clean and had everything we needed for a great family vacation. The host was quick to respond to any questions. The kids played pool in the loft every day. My wife loved having morning coffee on the deck and taking in the views. We all enjoyed the hot tub and outdoor fire pit. The double decker dock had a spot to tie my boat to and a jetski pad to park on. The journey down to the lake is not for the faint of heart. There are steps and a steep walk. You can drive down but I would suggest an all wheel drive or 4x4. The driveway is also very steep so be prepared. We used Little Milligan public boat launch, which was very close. Besides the Lake, my family enjoyed a nature hike to laurel falls and a day in Boone NC. Recommend this home for anyone who loves nature and would love a mountain top cabin.

Poor description
The house was beautiful, the description and photos of the property were a bit deceiving and I believe purposely left out. You almost need a 4 wheel drive to get to the house due to how steep the driveways are. If you don’t like climbing stairs do not attempt the dock as there are close to 40+ steps to climb up and down. The posting says there is a dock to park your boat which is true but doesn’t state that there is no where to park your boat trailer for the week while your boat is in the water. You cannot park it at the house because we could barely get our 4 door long bed truck around the turns to the house. We ended up paying a marina down the road to store our trailer for the week, just glad they were able to accommodate or I’m not sure what we would have done with it.

Perfect getaway!
We enjoyed our stay during Thanksgiving week. The cabin was lovely and had everything we needed, even more than we expected. The welcome basket and toiletries were thoughtful and a pleasant surprise. You can’t beat the view from the living room and deck! Would definitely recommend staying here, but be aware the driveway is very steep and winding.

One surprise after another “Breathtaking”
Our family loves nature, especially if we can be by a body of water. The lake is so clean. Visibility of about 15-25 feet. As soon as you open the door you feel like you are at home. The amenities and all the little extras made our stay even better. We are travelers so we have stayed at many Homes away from home. This is one of our favorites now. Everything was clean. The view was serene. The dock was perfect for boaters and we caught a lot of fish right from the dock. If you have a big family there is something for everyone to do. The pool table, card table, hot tub, tons of board games, and lots of lake fun there is no way your gonna get bored. The sounds of nature and it’s wildlife surrounding the property left us music lovers turning our speakers to mute quite often just to enjoy the beauty around us. Access to put boats in are very convenient. We brought kayaks, paddle boards, floats, and our fishing gear. I can’t even imagine how breathtaking this place will be in the fall. The hosts were quick to answer any call or text and didn’t mind answering our questions. If you love the outdoors this is your place. We had a blast!!!
