DO NOT ...REPEAT NOT...BOOK THIS ACCOMMODATION
Reserved and paid for the whole house in April 2022, the money was taken that day. We arrived for our 12 night stay on the 9.1.23. to be greeted by a very pleasant gentleman who knew absolutely NOTHING about the reservation. We were invited in to what was the home of he and his wife who arrived shortly after and who also knew nothing of the arrangement
It turned out that their son, who is described as Steven Bass the host, was taking bookings for his parents house without their knowledge. I got to speak to him on his Mother’s mobile when he made such lame excuses as he didn’t realise the payment had gone into his wife’s account and that because of covid he thought he had taken down the rental.......THE PROPERTY IS STILL BEING LISTED FOR RENT. He then asked if I had paid in dollars or pounds !!! Living in the UK I would hardly pay in dollars !!
His parents were embarrassed, apologetic but, it seemed to us, not surprised by the situation which, IMO, means it has happened before.
As we had nowhere to go that night, we stayed in the bedroom which had to be made ready for us.
We had booked the whole 3 storey house as we had intentions to invite family and friends but as it was home to the parents, we were offered the middle floor with no access to a kitchen or even a kettle.
By the following morning I had booked alternative accommodation in Hout Bay and moved on shortly after explaining the situation to the parents.
The very pleasant parents then offered to pay back the money, an offer we gratefully accepted but suggested that they charge for the one night we stayed.. We were very grateful to the parents who were so pleasant and accommodating and who completely understood our reasons for leaving after just one night. It was, after all, their home and, as such, it had not been prepared to receive guests
I would suggest that you stay very clear of 32 Top Road, Fresnay, Bantry Bay, as up until a few days ago, it was still being offered as a whole house for rent.
