Once you've ticked off the fabulous places in Araras, there's more to explore in the region. Grab the keys to a rental car, stow your luggage in the trunk and get out there. We've come up with some drives we think you'll love:

• Head to Rio de Janeiro for an excellent sightseeing adventure. About 35 miles from Araras, it has numerous amazing sights like Christ the Redeemer.
• Next stop? Consider Cabo Frio, which is around 85 miles away. Japanese Island is one local highlight you won't want to miss.
• Find your way to Itamambuca Beach to rediscover nature. Take a picnic to enjoy or just sit and unwind. From Araras, it's 130 miles away.

If you don't hold a driver's license issued in Brazil, then it's likely you'll need to get an International Driving Permit (IDP) in your home country to be allowed to rent a car.
