Car Rental Hou-wan

Hou-wan is full of surprises, but don't limit yourself to just the one place. Rent some wheels and hit the open road to explore the wider region. Here are some ideas:

• Head off to Kaohsiung for an excellent sightseeing experience. Roughly 50 miles from Hou-wan, it has loads of inspiring sights such as Lotus Pond.
• Around 80 miles away, Tainan is also a hit with travelers. Make sure you experience Chihkan Tower while you're here. It's one of the reasons people love visiting this buzzing city.
• Make tracks to Taipei 101 to reconnect with nature. Pack a picnic to enjoy or just chill out in the fresh air. From Hou-wan, it's 210 miles away.

If you don't hold a driver's license issued in Taiwan, then it's likely you'll need to get an International Driving Permit (IDP) in your place of residence to be allowed to rent a car. You should also note that if you do need an IDP, it won't be valid on its own. You'll be asked to show your current license your passport and other forms of ID as well. Lastly, make sure the credit card used to book the rental matches the name on your driver's license and passport. Some other requirements for international car rentals are:

• Age restrictions: You need to be 25 or over in most countries to rent a car. If you're younger than that, it may still be possible to rent a car but you'll have to pay a Young Driver's Surcharge. Additional restrictions may also apply to what kinds of cars you can rent.
• Driving limitations: Make sure you read the fine print before you drive away. You typically can't cross country borders, drive onto ferries or on certain types of rugged terrain with a rental vehicle.
