South Beach has plenty to keep you on the move, but don't limit yourself to one place. Organize a set of wheels and hit the open road to see what's in the surrounding region. Here are some great options:

• You'll discover Lotus Pond and loads more intriguing sights in Kaohsiung. From South Beach, it's approximately 55 miles away.
• Roughly 85 miles away, Tainan is also a favorite with wanderers. Make sure you check out Chihkan Tower while you're here. It's one of the reasons people love visiting this city.
• Spend time in the outdoors and breathe in some fresh air at Taroko National Park. It's about 160 miles from South Beach.

If you don't possess a driver's license issued in Taiwan, then you'll likely need to apply for an International Driving Permit (IDP) in your home country in order to rent a car. It's also important to note that if you do need an IDP, it won't be valid on its own. You'll be asked to show your driver's license from your home country your passport and other forms of documentation as well.
