There are many exciting adventures to be had in Santa Monica, but head farther afield and you'll find even more magic. Organize a set of wheels and you can wander around the surrounding region at your own pace. Add these fantastic places to your travel schedule:

• Make your way to Ensenada for an excellent sightseeing adventure. About 45 miles from Santa Monica, it has loads of amazing attractions such as First Street.
• Your next pit stop? Consider Mexicali, which is around 95 miles away. Plaza La Gran Via is one local hot spot you won't want to miss.
• Malecón San Felipe is situated 160 miles from Santa Monica and is one of the region's most gorgeous nature spots. Go for a walk around and enjoy the fresh air.

If you don't hold a driver's license issued in Mexico, then it's likely you'll need to acquire an International Driving Permit (IDP) in your home country to be allowed to rent a car. Also consider that if you do need an IDP, it has no validity on its own. You'll be asked to show your current driver's license your passport and other forms of documentation as well.
