There are lots of things to see and do in Vallarta Poniente, but venture farther afield and you'll find even more magic. Pick up a set of wheels and you can wander around the greater area at your own speed. Add these fantastic places to your itinerary:

• Head to Puerto Vallarta for a fun-filled sightseeing adventure. Roughly 120 miles from Vallarta Poniente, it has tons of inspiring attractions like Malecon.
• Your next pit stop? It has to be Aguascalientes, which is around 110 miles away. Victoria Stadium is one local draw card you really shouldn't miss.
• Get out into the outdoors and appreciate the serenity at Bay of Banderas. It's approximately 130 miles from Vallarta Poniente.

If you don't hold a driver's license issued in Mexico, then it's likely you'll need to apply for an International Driving Permit (IDP) in your place of residence to be allowed to rent a car. You should also note that if an IDP is required, it won't be valid on its own. You'll need to show your current license your passport and other forms of documentation as well. Lastly, it's important that the credit card used to book the rental vehicle matches the name on your driver's license and passport. Some additional requirements for international car rentals are:
