8.2/10 Very Good! (1,672 reviews)
Well located in the fancy East end of Melbourne cbd with access to free tram and sightseeing. No twin bed options so booked king suite which had very comfy bed, spacious living area/kitchen with old fashioned plush design/grand feel to it and usual facilties (fridge, mini disjwasher, microwave, bathroom amenities). But perhaps emphasis on old as spa bath left bathroom toilet area cramped with no room to undress, bath sink area not enclosed with a door so less privacy and exposed to sleeping area. One uncleaned window that looks onto another building so dark and claustrophobic. Timing of housekeeping wasn't ideal as they showed up 2.30pm in arvo when we were back from touring all day, but they were efficient. Feng Shui of the hotel generally strange, room entries banked onto narrow balcony like walkway that overlooked the vast open atrium when one can hear scrapping of heavy lobby chairs in the morning or echo of lounge performers in the evening, whilst 12 floors up. Surprised with the $100 deposit hold PER DAY and strict monetised options for early/late check in. Was effective in causing a flurry at 11am check out with lifts and lobby busy, but concierge was good to hold/store bags. Would probably try a different more moden hotel in this area next visit.
