住宿简介

Walk Softly, There’s a Dream Here!

  • Walk Softly—There’s a Dream Here
Only 15 minutes from downtown Burlington, Baxter’s Hide-Away Cottage rests quietly on the private Mills Point Peninsula—an intimate retreat created for you and the one you cherish… or for a peaceful escape all your own.
Perfectly placed just steps from the shores of Lake Champlain and the world-famous Colchester Causeway Bike Path, this hidden gem invites slow mornings, sunset walks, and the gentle rhythm of nature. Ideal for couples or solo travelers seeking tranquility, this is a place to unwind—not a setting for parties or nightlife.
    ________________________________________
    The Space
Baxter’s Hide-Away Cottage offers the rare balance of seclusion and proximity—close enough to enjoy Burlington’s college events, festivals, triathlons, and vibrant culture, yet far enough to return to stillness at day’s end.
Lovingly brought to life at the close of August, the cottage has been created in a unique and heartfelt way. While portions of the surrounding grounds will continue to be completed through next year, the spirit of the space is already here—calm, enchanting, and restorative.
Our hope is that both the cottage and this special peninsula provide you with a deeply restful and refreshing stay.
    Guest Access
Guests enjoy full, private access to the entire cottage.
A short walk down the hill brings you to the Causeway bike path, where miles of scenic beauty await. You’ll also have access to the Mills Point beach area, reserved for residents and their guests—perfect for quiet lakeside moments.

The location was perfect and close to activities and markets, but also secluded. The cottage was so clean and unique inside it felt like a very special getaway. We took advantage of the local drive in, shops, and the amazing views on the lake. This place is truly a hidden gem and I would absolutely recommend staying here.

Beautiful and comfortable property and home

The home is filled with very nice personal and thoughtful decor. We very much enjoyed our stay and appreciate the cleanliness and warmth that the owners have taken time to fill the inside with. This is a great place for a stay in the Burlington area.

relaxing stay in a great spot

This is an A+ property in a fantastic location. Communication with the owner/manager was very clear, the house was very comfortable (great mattress, high quality sheets and pillows, excellent water pressure, plenty of seating), and the proximity to the Colchester Causeway made for some fantastic walks.

Wonderful trip!

Cabin is exactly as pictured. Beautiful decor, and a very homey feel! This was the best experience I've ever had booking a VRBO, from start to finish. The host was very responsive, the pricing was fair, and the cabin was very clean.

Summer shack

My fiancé and I had a lovely, quiet weekend away in Maine...just what we were looking for. It is definitely a summer shack...some parts of the cottage are poorly built, but it was perfect for a quick summer vacation!

Another Lovely Stay!

Our second stay at Baxter's Hideaway was just as wonderful as the first. Albert is very responsive. The property very clean and well-equipped. The proximity to the bike trail is great. With beautiful weather we meandered along Church Street Marketplace in Burlington each night (highly recommend!). If you want to eat dinner in Burlington we recommend making reservations well in advance. We will definitely return again next fall!

Arty, Kitchy, Fun and Restful

Elizabeth and I really had a lovely time. The house was warm and welcoming, and had an endearing, quirky feel. The location was ideal, with Lake Champlain a stone's throw away. We rested, made delicious dinners, sampled the local cuisine (Leunig's!!!), kayaked, strolled, and took daily bicycle rides. The house was comfy (mostly) and we enjoyed the variety of visual stimuli that comprised the decorations and furnishings of the property. There are a few "suggestions" to share, but those will be done privately. It's hard to imagine not having a restful vacation here.

Close to the causeway on Lake Champlain

Cabin-like rental across the street from the lake and a 2-3 minute's walk to the causeway. Bed is comfortable, and there is a nice deck out front and there are kayaks, which we not able to use, but it's a nice feature. A few caveats: if you have mobility issues, you might want to avoid this place because you have to walk on grass a fair stretch to get from the driveway. The bathroom is not that private: the ceiling is completely open. There were also a lot of mosquitos.
