It is easy enough to walk down to the sea front and there are a couple of bars and places to eat. The beach is a mix of stones and sand, but a shallow incline into the sea, which offers some great snorkelling opportunities. Plenty of fish, who don't seem that bothered by humans so you can swim along with them. Returning/ going into town is quicker! To enjoy the best of Santa Teresa Gallura you need a car to get to the beaches; we enjoyed a day and a half of pottering around town/ resting/ eating after a busy Swimtrek week at La Maddelena, but didn’t need longer.
