About this property

Entire place

You'll have the entire cabin to yourself and will only share it with other guests in your party.

Rustic Cabin in the Black Hills with access to Forest Service trail system.

Cabin in Deadwood with kitchen and patio
No Wifi and One mile of gravel driveway leads to The Rustic Cabin which is situated on a private section of 30 wooded acres in the Black Hills surrounded on two sides by Forest Service. Starting May 2022 we no longer offer WiFi. You will need to use your cell service for internet at the cabin. ATT cell service is good at the cabin and all around the property. Verizon cell service is extremely poor in our area, if on Verizon you may need to drive to the top of the hill for service. The TV reception also comes and goes and only has four channels. We have a CD player and movies at the cabin for your use.

Heading south from the cabin you will be able to access the ATV trail 247.1E. The forest service has recently cleared trees in this area and the path can be difficult to find. There is also access to the trail system heading north / east from the cabin which connects to trail 538.1G. The neighbors on Strawberry Hill use this access so the path is more clear. A permit is needed to use the Forest Service trail system those permits are available for purchase at Steel Wheel gas station & convenience store which is one mile south on Hwy 385.

Our home is also on the property and you will see it first as you cross through the gate. The cabin has its own driveway access and is separated from our home by the pond, gazebo and campfire area. You cannot see our home from the cabin and our nearest neighbor is approximately 1/2 mile away.

The cabin is five miles from Deadwood, twenty miles from Sturgis or Spearfish, forty miles from Hill City. Centrally located to all the famous attractions.

This is a Rustic Designed Cabin built by Bill and finished in 2018. The cabin measures 12 × 26 with a 10 x 12 loft. It has a full bath, full kitchen and a queen size bed in the loft (an earlier guest commented that the open stairs are steep). The living area has a reclining couch and a comfortable recliner. The TV reception is by antenna with four local channels, ABC, Fox, H&I and MeTV. Recently two more channels have been added, but the reception comes and goes, so if you like watching TV this might not be the place you want to stay. We no longer offer wifi as the signal was too low. Also, Verizon service is nearly non-existent at the cabin. There is a view of the pond and gazebo from the covered front porch of the cabin. During the months of July & August the pond is very low as it fluctuates due to the water table.

ATV rentals are available through Black Hills Off Road Rentals 605.584.4777 located two miles south on Hwy 385 at the intersection of Brownsville / Nemo Rd.
Guest accommodations at this cabin offer DVD players and hair dryers. Rooms open to patios. Kitchens offer refrigerators, stovetops, cookware/dishes/utensils, and coffee/tea makers. Bathrooms include showers.
The recreational activities listed below are available either on site or nearby; fees may apply.

The perfect get away!
My husband and I were looking for a weekend getaway where we could relax and spend some time in the Black Hills and we were so happy with our stay at the Rustic Cabin! The location of the cabin is perfect - private and quiet. Lynn and Bill have thought of everything you might need during your stay. We really appreciated having the grill, as were cooked all of our meals at the cabin. The kitchen has all of the dishes and cooking items you need. The bathroom was so cute and the towels were nicer than our towels at home! One a Saturday morning hike, we saw 5 elk just a short distance from the cabin! Lots of deer, birds and a couple of turkeys too. By far, our best cabin rental ever. Thanks again!

Rustic Cabin
The Cabin exceeded our expectations! This was exactly what we were looking for. A remote area close to Deadwood. Lynn and Bill did a great job with the cabin and has all the amenities you need. We loved the fact that we did not have internet and limited TV channels. We will be back in the future.
