The best time to visit Deline is during the summer months, from late June to early September, or in late winter, from February to April.
Summer in Deline offers extended daylight hours, with the midnight sun providing nearly 24 hours of light for outdoor activities. This period is ideal for experiencing Great Bear Lake, whether through guided fishing excursions for lake trout and arctic grayling or exploring the lake's islands and shorelines by boat. Wildlife viewing is also prominent, with opportunities to see caribou and various bird species.
Late winter provides a completely different, yet equally rewarding, experience. The frozen landscape transforms Deline into a prime location for viewing the aurora borealis, which is particularly active during these colder, darker months. This season is also superb for ice fishing, snowmobiling, and dog sledding on the frozen Great Bear Lake.
