We arrived day of check in. Current owner was confused and had no idea of our stay. We drove out 4 hours out to stay in this area with no were to stay. Current owner advised that the property was recently purchased from a prior owner who should have stopped all reservations. The building was under remodeling. The current owner was kind enough to offer a room for the night with Wi-Fi so we could find another place to stay. We decided to leave back to San Jose. We left out planned trip with no where to stay and no refund. *** I cannot believe this happened to us**** requesting an immediate refund of my money... prior owner or Expedia!!!!
Very upset with this issue!
The directions for getting to Cabinas were inaccurate unless perhaps one knew the area already. One was supposed to go 400 meters past the hanging bridge to get to the Cabinas. We arrived in the area at night and after driving past the area indicated by GPS 4 times, stopped at a business that was open to ask directions. Fortunately, the gentleman there said that Cabinas was owned by his friend, whom he called several times before reaching him. The friend kindly agreed to come to the highway so that we could follow him back to Las Cabinas. The dirt road leading from the highway had a small, hand lettered sign stating Las Cabinas, which we never saw as it was too small and too far from the beginning of the road. We followed the owner up the worst 4-wheel drive road I could imagine for what seemed like a few miles - in first gear - before coming to Las Cabinas. There were no other cars in front of the inn and we were shown to a one of the 4 rooms - upstairs. Some of the windows could not be locked, the corners of the room had what looked like insect or rodent debris in them, and the whole atmosphere was grim and uninviting. In the morning, the gentleman fixed the locks but there was a pile of dog feces from his pet outside of the door to our room. On our way back down the road that morning, we saw the hanging bridge, absolutely not visible in the dark, and about halfway between the highway and Las Cabinas.
The man running the hotel did a great job of addressing any questions and concerns. The accomodations were clean, roomy, and very comfortable. it was very hot so the A.C. was a great plus! Also has beautiful pool. Hot water for the shower as well.
