![Almost all who visit Cambodia head to Siem Reap and for good reason.  However, if you are heading east to Phnom Penh leave some time in your schedule for Kratie.  On the bank of the Mekong this little town is pretty special.  It's a great place to try to spot the famous Mekong River Dolphin. ![The Leaf Foundation is one of the NGOs in the area which is set out to help elephants and the forrest. Elephants which have been used in tourism or on farms before can have a good life here. Right now they have five elephants. Those are "rented" which means the local families still own them. They get money from the LEAF Foundation for health care and basic needs. As a tourist you can book different tours there and see/touch these great elephants.
