“You must have a car while visiting this property. Otherwise there is nothing to do. There is a very nice outdoor pool that is not heated. So it must be warm enough outside to enjoy it.
The hotel offers a nice breakfast. There is no bar or restaurant at the hotel. About a half mile walk from the hotel is a very expensive restaurant with a limited menu. I don't believe it is open for lunch. Another reason you need a car.
During check in I noticed a large hose slightly larger than a dryer……

“We are a family of 5 with 3 kids under 12. We visited in March and it was very quiet/serene. Portovella has a beautiful view of the Douro. Riverside walk is just several steps down a hill. Photos don’t do it justice because it is so breathtaking in person. The comfort suite was the perfect size with 2 bathroom ensuites and a powder room. View from the suite was incredible. Just plan ahead if you’re staying on a Sunday as many restaurants were closed but we found a gem in Cinfaes - Sabores e……

“Great view from the room and the cafeteria/restaurant. The mountain and the river behind are spectacular. The room itself is quite nice and big as well. However, the only public transportation to get to the hotel is by bus. Even it is only three minutes walk to downtown, still strongly recommend to rent a car if you would like to explore more in the neighborhood. The hotel has its own underground parking lot. So it is not a problem for parking.”

“Love the hotel facilities. Boutique hotel feel with very nice decor. Daniel gave us great service at the bar and restaurant while we were there.

“Superbe emplacement avec une vue imprenable sur le Douro — tout simplement magnifique. Les chambres ainsi que les espaces partagés sont immaculés. On a vraiment l’impression d’être dans un petit B&B chaleureux plutôt que dans un grand hôtel, ce qui rend l’expérience très conviviale et reposante.
L’endroit est aussi très bien situé, à environ 15 minutes en voiture de Peso da Régua, où l’on trouve plusieurs excellents petits restaurants.
