We were looking for a quite place out of the hustle of the city. This place was perfect.
Very nice room with a wonderful bed that was awesome after a couple of long days of hiking and watching the stars. Pay attention to the welcome e-mail because you go straight to your room like an Air B&B. We would recommend for sure. Also, our Golden Retriever loved it as well.
What a wonderful place to stay. The room was spacious, modern, and clean. We were able to sit outside at night and see the stars so clearly. The views are amazing and I would recommend High Frontier to anyone wanting to stay in the Fort Davis area.
the views are excellent, and when they get more of the amenities upp and active it should be an excellent spot. At this time its just a good place tostay with no amenities.
Love love love this place. It’s so quiet and beautiful.

This place was awesome! It was a bit hard to find, and there was no cell signal to help try to find out how to get there, but other than that it was a wonderful getaway! Quiet and serene, beautiful landscape, and the suite itself was superb! I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone.
The room was very clean and comfortable. The view of the mountains was wonderful, and the night sky was gorgeous. I've never seen so many stars! We didn't get to enjoy the fireplace as the weather was too warm for a fire, but I bet it would have been cozy. Compared to other accommodations in the area, the price was very reasonable. I'd definitely recommend High Frontier.
The room was very clean and welcoming. The host was super helpful and responded quickly. We loved the location and the views were amazing! We will definitely come back to stay here.
The studio 2 room was clean and spacious. The rain show head is not for me but I'm sure I'm in the minority. The robes and slippers were a nice surprise. We didn't get to try it the pool. Maybe next time. I did not see any of the staff but we did not need there service. I wish we could have stayed longer. Thanks for your hospitality.
We stayed in bunkhouse 1 which was very spacious and well appointed. The views are beautiful and star gazing was amazing with the dark skies. There’s a gym, pool and hot tub that we look forward to using on our next visit. Only 5 miles into Ft. Davis for restaurants so it was very convenient. I highly recommend High Frontier!
We stayed in the field house #4. Very clean and modern room. We did not have time to try the pool, as we spent so much time exploring the local trails. Looks like a great space for an event.
An absolute unique setting surrounded by the Fort Davis Mountains. It is directly across from the Chihuanhuan Desert Nature Center. We stayed in Bunkhouse 1 that worked well for 2 adults and our 11 year old grandson. The first night there we enjoyed sitting by the pool and the hot tub. We chose this location aa our home base to spend time both in the Fort Davis area and the Big Bend area. Bunkhouse accommodations are similar to a hotel setting. No kitchen but small frig, microwave, espresso machine. It also has a fireplace. It is a very peaceful setting that is still being developed. We enjoyed a short hike on the property but according to site info they plan to develop more trails. There are also trails at the Chihuanhuan Natural Center and at the Fort Davis State Park. The accommodations were very comfortable and provided everything we needed for our 5 nights. We bought snacks and lite breakfast food in town. The line of toiletries is top of the line. I wish I could have purchased it.
It was me, my 5 year old, and our 9 month old puppy. We were amazed at the quality of the accommodations. My daughter made a video tour for our friends & asked when we’d be back. We all slept great, the sunset and sunrise views were amazing. Outdoor areas clean and made for great stargazing. Sunrise in the large windows was a peaceful start to the morning. All the kitchen supplies we could need and a large tv for movie night. Luxury towels and robes. The dog lived her best life and none of us wanted to leave.
High Frontier is located in the beautiful Davis Mountains in West Texas. It is fairly new. We had extreme privacy. We never saw anyone else during our stay. Various amenities on the property were still under construction but useable. My family had a blast. We only regret we were not able to stay longer.
This property is great for pets (we have a large dog) because it’s rather isolated and there’s lots of outdoor space. The renovation of this place, which is a group of multi-sized buildings which formerly served as a rehab facility, is beautifully done. The rooms are stylish and the towels and amenities luxurious. Be prepared to bring every last thing you may need however, because there is no front desk to call for a forgotten toothbrush, no Coke machine for a bottle of water, no hospitality number for fresh towels (though they are gorgeous. I went to the sister hotel in Marfa to buy some for home). It is truly in the middle of nowhere about 8 miles from Fort Davis.
My partner loved it for the quiet (except the night when one of the spaces was rented for a party) and the stargazing in the big, dark skies.
In summary, I think I would have preferred having a front desk in one of the buildings, or someone who was present on site. The proprietors were very responsive if I sent a message through my booking app, but I guess I like to talk and meet people a little when I travel, so this place felt a little TOO far away from everything to my tastes.
