About this property
Entire place
You'll have the entire home to yourself and will only share it with other guests in your party.
Fun for up to 4 guests.
Located at the quiet, western edge of Marfa, comfortable, private and peaceful, this great little Marfa abobe is the perfect spot for you to isolate, get-away and enjoy the high desert views of West Texas. On-site parking, entire house which is not attached to any other structure. Concrete floors and high ceilings, air conditioned, heated and has wifi and nice star gazing from courtyard. Two bedrooms: - 1 bedroom downstairs with a queen sized bed. -1 cozy upstairs loft bedroom with a queen sized bed. There are stairs going to the upstairs. (See pics). If someone is staying upstairs and they need to use the bathroom all through the night, they will have to come down the stairs to do so. The bathroom is on the ground floor. House is most comfortable for no more than 4 guests. Full kitchen with all appliances and utensils for meals. Full bath with rain head shower. Lofty ceilings There is a large, flat screen "smart TV" which is mainly used for dvd viewing. There is a fun selection of DVD’s but there is no cable tv. You may use to the TV for Netflix etc by signing in if you have an account. There is no solid guarantee on wifi streaming speeds. WIFI - There is wifi at the house. Some views of the Davis Mountains from the property and from upstairs. Courtyard with distant mountain views and a fun small soaking tub (this is a handmade, “cowboy”, rustic outdoor tub with both hot and cold water.) Comfy chairs inside can be moved outside for wonderful star viewing.
The historic Paisano Hotel, Marfa Book Company and galleries in the center of town are a 3 minute drive away, though many guests enjoy walking to downtown, about 20 minutes. Several fun restaurants are walking distance, less than 5 blocks away.
A few minute's walk from the Cemetery Merced at the end of the street, Convenience West BBQ and The Water Stop. That area is high on the western edge of town, a nice place to watch the sunset, with nice views of the ranch lands and plenty of distant mountains. The railroad runs though Marfa. You will see the train from the house back yard and from upstairs. Please read what every other homeowner in Marfa has written about the train. It is the reason there is a town in the middle of the desert.
You will interact with me when booking the property - I'll be happy to answer any questions you might have in advance of your visit. At the property, you'll let yourself in, and will have phone numbers for the house manager who will be able to troubleshoot if you happen to need assistance during reasonable hours of your stay, not at 1:00 am. Looks like the pictures and the host was helpful and responsive. We had everything we needed. The location is about a mile from downtown Marfa and easy to walk to if needed.
It was great to stay in this historic property. It has been nicely rebuilt and re-furbished. Fitted us perfectly for our stay in Marfa

An absolutely charming house for a fantastic stay in West Texas!
Terry's house is charming and cozy; the perfect place to base yourself from to explore Marfa and Big Bend. While the house is small, the layout worked great and had such a sense of spaciousness.

Wonderful property!
We had a great time and loved the house! Terry is also an exceptional host. We will definitely return!
Great little comforted stop in Marfa.I wasn't aware of it being right next to the cemetery so it through off my young daughter. The comfortable furniture and luxurious linens brings a cozy homey feel to this historical property full if unique features.
Beautiful property. We felt like we were in an art installation! Love this place. Would come back. Great bed too.

Art-filled Adobe indeed
We rented this house for a wedding in Marfa and enjoyed relaxing on the porch area and looking at the stars. The kitchen was great, beds comfortable and an overall enjoyable space.
Beautiful little home on the edge of town that has been curated with years of art work and other finds creating a special place to stay in the desert of West Texas. Terry has put a lot of time into making sure the home offers a unique experience in Marfa. Would definitely stay here again.
Terry built this home with his own hands. Much of the furniture and art was also built/created by him. We were very impressed with the house, and level of communication from the host. Would definitely stay here again!
Such a great experience! We loved the house and the patio had a perfect view of sunsets. Terry was incredibly helpful and responsive. Will definitely be back!
Lovely home, with beautiful outdoor space--great for stargazing. Loved all the special touches. We were very comfortable there and hated to leave. Terry is a wonderful host. Thanks again for everything.
Wonderfully decorated and juat enough space for our time together this week. The patio are with all the wonderful local plants was a nice touch at the end of our day to enjoy the cool evening air and watch the stars above. The housr had all the basic essentials we needed. Very pleasant stay overall. We look forward to our return back to the area.
Basics: well-appointed, very clean, comfortable and user friendly (information and expectations clearly posted). The owner obviously put a lot of heart and thought into this property. Everywhere you look there is something you didn’t see before. Minimalist but felt like a cocoon. And the light….Vibe: this what you go to Marfa for. Pull the trigger on renting this property. You won’t regret it.
As advertised!! Clean!! Very Unique! Enjoyed every bit of the character! Had all descriptions as accurate. Enjoyed the stay and would stay again!

An creative compound close to town, but with room to breathe
We really enjoyed staying in this beautiful property. There were thoughtful details throughout - we loved the chef's kitchen and outdoor courtyard in particular. The house had loads of cool character but was also efficient with good ACs, fans & lighting. We particularly liked being on the edge of town. It was more relaxing than being in town, with better views. And, tacos were still super close with Mando's right down the street! We'll be back!

Great stay in Marfa
We stayed here for a couple of days in March over Spring Break. It's perfect for our family of 4: 2 adults, 2 children 9 and 13. The property is well put together with cozy accommodations, like a little nest! The décor is thoughtful and personal, great art pieces to ponder while you are there! The location is just on the edge of town, but even with that it's no more than a 2-3 minute drive to the main street with shops and restaurants. The kitchen is well supplied, though we ate out while we were there. The only caution I would give is that it's probably not best suited for small children given the loft accommodation.
We found our perfect place to stay when in Marfa. Terry has crafted a beautiful art installation that retains the historical roots of Marfa while capturing the contemporary culture of this serene and peaceful spot in the Chihuahuan desert. Loved the quiet location, just on the edge of town. Enjoyed walks through the cemetery across the street, pondering at the lives and stories behind many of the century+ old headstones. The back patio sitting area allowed us to enjoy the sounds of silence and the occasional train passing through town. Terry is a wonderful host, ensuring we had everything we needed for our stay. Looking forward to our return.
We loved our stay at Terry's adobe! The house, the art, the books and decor were so thoughtfully put together and we felt immediately comfortable there. We cooked the entire time and Terry had everything we needed (and a lot more!) The bed was super comfy, the rain shower was fun and we loved watching Giant again on DVD! Terry's place is in a fabulous location on the edge of town, yet close enough to walk. Stargazing was incredible right outside the back door on the comfy chairs. Terry has done a wonderful job of making sure you have EVERYTHING you need and making sure your experience at his home is a memorable one! Perfect way to get away during these crazy times. Thanks Terry!
