The best area to stay in Fortia is within the village center, particularly around the Plaça Major.

This central area of Fortia offers a traditional Catalan village experience. It's a compact and walkable district characterized by its historic stone buildings, narrow streets, and a relaxed pace of life. The Plaça Major, the main square, is the heart of the village, often hosting local events and providing a pleasant spot to enjoy a coffee or meal. Its small size means you're never far from anything.

Couples looking for a quiet retreat will find the village center appealing. It provides a peaceful base for exploring the surrounding Empordà region and its vineyards, or for day trips to the nearby Costa Brava beaches.

The best time to visit Fortia is during the shoulder seasons of spring (April to June) and early autumn (September to October).

During these months, you'll experience pleasant weather, with comfortable temperatures ideal for exploring the region's natural beauty and historic sites without the intense summer heat. The countryside is particularly beautiful in spring with blossoming landscapes, while autumn offers a warm glow and the grape harvest season in nearby vineyards. These periods also generally see fewer crowds than the peak summer months, allowing for a more relaxed experience.

For those looking to enjoy Fortia's coastal proximity, the summer months of July and August offer the warmest temperatures, superb for beach activities and swimming in the Mediterranean.
