"Very convenient hotel to stay in. It’s very close to some great restaurants and the train station. It’s a 15 min walk to the old district. Parking is direct in front of it (with a surcharge). Staff is very helpful and friendly. Room was spacious and clean (maybe the carpet would need a cleaning soon). We would come back "

"1. Staff - Same as anywhere in Japan, staff are very nice and helpful. But what sets this hotel's staff apart from other hotels is that when you ask for directions, they won't just give you a map. They will also check via google map from their own phone and show you the route to your desired destination. 2. Room - Very spacious, clean, neat and tidy. In addition to that, there is free big bottled water every day. The room comes with a big washer/dryer, and even the laundry detergent also comes for free! 3. Shower - Shower area comes with both bath tub and standing area (for people like us who don't want to bathe in the bath tub). The water temperwture also is very stable, unlike other hotels in Japan wherein the water in the shower suddenly becomes hotter/colder even after you fixed the temperature. 4. Trash bins - This hotel has the most trash bins compared to all the hotels we've been to in all our travels. There are 3 bins (segregated waste) in the kitchen, 1 in the bedroom, 1 in the toilet and 1 in the tooth-brushing area, for a total of 6 trash bins! this is very useful as people in Japan need to bring home their own trash. 5. Surroundings - the hotel is just beside the Takayama Nohi Bus terminal and Train Station which makes it very convenient for travellers. it is also near to a number of tourist destinations (morning markets, Old Town, Hida Folk Village, etc) and eateries. We will definitely be staying in this hotel again in our next trip to Takayama."

"Lots of foreigners and local travellers. Can be crowded. Some foreigners may not understand public bathing etiquette - for example, rinsing the shower stall clean and clear of soap suds for the next person and standing in the shower stall - there is a reason why each comes with a stool for you to sit. Of course you can kneel if you wish which a lot of old sentou will not have a stool readily there. A lot of English speaking foreigners speaking very loudly inside the elevator. I understand the excitement of finding out a washer-dryer inside your hotel room but it’s nothing to be overly excited and if you are, express that when it’s not inside the elevator. The hotel should put signage up or print these rules for foreigners. I love this country and wishes well for all visitors but I would like to at the same time preserve the “specialness” of this place for all to enjoy in the future…… Otherwise it was a good stay. "

"Country Hotel Takayama provides excellent customer services in both Japanese and English. Location is excellent and convenient as it is within couple minutes walking distance to both JR Takayama station and Nohi bus terminal."

"Hotel got 2 onsen, both with outdoor onsen. The one on 1F was so relaxing in a green setting. Rooms n amenities provided have also exceeded expectation. Hotel provides shuttle service from JR station, but very limited timing. Nonetheless, will stay again when in Takayama"

"Nice cosy place, The walk to nearby park and village i Make this access so good . Definitely a good choice for onsen visit . The 8th floor onsen view is cooling and great to be in. "

"Quiet and older onsen by the river and train tracks in Gero onsen town. A shuttle service is providing certain hours, but we opted to walk to the resort from the train station. After a hot bath I recommend having a nice cold milk from the vending machines. Staff was friendly, room was clean, and it was fun to try the dinner/breakfast. Some instructions and info on how and what we were eating would have been nice but not knowing is a fun part of that experience! Thank you for having us!"
