Our family booked this house, which was in the general location of the AAU Junior Olympics, which my daughter was competing in. The details of the house seemed to fit our needs quite well, so we were looking forward to our stay. First of all, let me begin by saying that the house is in a very nice area. But, we were worried that our stay wouldn’t happen, after not receiving any check in information from the host. We called his phone and messaged him multiple times without a response less than 22 hours from our scheduled check in. We contacted VRBO, and they too were unable to make contact. We had thought we were scammed, which was such an unpleasant feeling, especially knowing that due to the size of the event we were going for, we would be unable to book anything else within 60 miles.
Thankfully, the host did eventually get back to us, and stated that he forgot to send out the check in information. When we got to the house, the check in was simple, and our hopes were high. Unfortunately, the kitchen cleanliness was not to our standards. We had to kill two huge cockroaches which were darting across the kitchen floor. The countertops were filthy, and cabinets were sticky. There was an air fryer, which was caked with food from prior use and had a fishy odor to it. There were minimal utensils, and several lightbulbs burned out. Our socks became dirty from walking on the kitchen floor. We had purchased approx. $200 worth of cold foods, which was placed in the fridge. We noticed the next day, all the food was bad, as the fridge temp was over 50 degrees. The freezer temp was 28 degrees. A repair tech came to the house, and spent 5 minutes vacuuming dirt from the back of the fridge to get it working properly again. I do want to note that the host was kind enough to reimburse us for the lost food. All furniture in the house seemed very outdated and uncomfortable. The best part about the house was it’s complete gym.
