This is my 4th stay at Montigo. I think the property has aged a lot since my last stay. I will likely not return anymore.
First, the property is poorly maintained. We stayed at the 5 bedroom villa. One of the rooms smell of mold and mildew. One corner of the bedroom has black spots on the ceiling that looks like mold but we can’t verify or confirm if it is. Broken tiles in the pool that makes it unsafe for young kids.
The villa is also not cleaned properly. Floor is dusty with dirt spots. Towels are so old and washed that it’s grey rather than white.
Service has gone down too. Buggy takes a long time to come compared to before. Some times we have to wait 20-30 min during busy hours.
I think some upgrading and maintenance are needed to refresh the resort.
Breakfast was average but we really enjoyed the food at Warung and Pantai. Food at Pantai was really good and staff there was great.
It was easy to get Grab from the lobby to go into the city. Hotel WiFi blocks Grab app so you will need to use data roaming.
Spa is good and I used it on every trip. It’s more expensive than what you get in the city but worth the money.
I used to recommend Montigo to my friends. But after this recent experience, I will not return and will try out other hotels in the area.
