It was a beautiful view and the food was hit or miss. The staff were nice. It seemed expensive for what we got. A full day cruise is the way to go in my opinion. Definitely not 2 nights. They make you get off the boat for 8 hour doing ? Then you repeat the previous days activities.

I like the cleanliness and the service but the spread of food was rather average. No basic drinks like water and tea and coffee were provided during lunch.

We booked the Silversea Cruise on the recommendation of friends who had been on it only weeks before. We thoroughly enjoyed it. The staff went above and beyond to make our trip special. We couldn’t have been happier with our trip!

Great experience but not much cruising
My partner and I opted for the two night cruise staying in the boat. What to expect/included - Great food and service all included in the price. All drinks are extra!! - Trip to local Pearl Farm with a canoe trip and then trip to Ti Top Island which has a small beach and views across the bay if you’re willing to climb the many steps to the top. Both trips included and last about an hour each. - Fantatic views of Ha Long Bay from the boat and your room but there are many other boats about and both mornings breakfast is served at 6:30am, so early start. What I’d do differently - A couple we met opted for their second night in a beach bungalow on a small island. This sounded a lot more relaxing that our first full day on a smaller day boat for 8 hours. The food was poor (chips and salad) and the boat was too small to cater for all passengers to have a sun lounger on the top deck. - We did have a tour of some local caves on our first full day which was interesting but after that just visited the same places we’d already been the day before. If you can, insist you stay on the main cruise boat as it’s clean, more relaxing and better if you just want to spend the day relaxing in the sun. I think they want you to vacate the boat so they can pick up the next load of passengers but I can’t see why you’d need to vacate the boat. I would also like to have seen more of Ha Long Bay. The boat didnt really travel too far from the main land and visited the same areas.

Tour guide was good, hotel room is clean and tidy, but booking of the shuttle bus with the cruise to and fro the port to our hotel in Hanoi city centre was difficult as no one responded to our email.

Nice boat
Generally well run, good food, reasonable price drinks. We had a suite but it was really just the same room with a very small balcony and small spa bath instead of shower. very disorganized at the port as we arranged private transfers in a limo for $30usd return rather than there over inflated prices, I went looking for staff to find out what the process is, they certainly weren't looking for us. Unfortunately it's really busy everywhere you go, the canoeing is very restricted to where you can go, we missed the sunset. The cooking class was only making rice paper rolls, not really a cooking class, just a how to roll a rice paper roll.

Silversea Cruise
It was a pleasant and comfortable stay with Silversea cruise. Our guide/host for the cruise - Mr Lucky was professional and knowledgeable and he made sure we were well-informed and taken care of onboard the cruise. The cabin was clean and the meals (almost like dining at hotel) aboard the cruise were excellent. Other than that, i think the activities were similar to other cruises.

Overpriced (cheaper options from hanoi streets)
Overall good experience. Very similar to phang na in thailand, which has nicer water. Very regimented timetable, sun goes down early. Only got 15mins in kayak due to 1hr late pickup. Minimal swimming time also. Our guide Sonny was an absolute gentleman, and very helpful and extremely cheerful with great english. 30 min stopover to/from bus is annoying. As was the waiting time to leave the boat and then again for bus to arrive. Worth a look, but like I said, overpriced. Sister went on a smaller boat and paid more, said mine was better. Ti-top lookout was worth the effort and the best part of the trip. Staff on boat more interested about alcohol sales than customer experience.
