The best time to visit Hautajarvi depends entirely on the experience you're seeking, with distinct advantages in both winter (December to March) and summer (June to August). For those dreaming of a quintessential Lapland winter wonderland, December to March is ideal. This period offers reliable snow cover, great for activities like cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and husky sledding. The short daylight hours increase your chances of witnessing the Northern Lights, especially from January to March when the nights are long and clear. Winter also brings the opportunity to experience the quiet beauty of the snow-laden forests and frozen lakes. If you prefer long days, hiking, and exploring the fells without snow, then June to August is the best time. The "Midnight Sun" phenomenon means nearly 24 hours of daylight, allowing for extended outdoor activities like hiking in the Oulanka National Park or fishing in the numerous lakes and rivers.
