Finland Hotel & Resort Travel Guide

Saunas, the Northern lights, and even Santa Claus await visitors to this Scandinavian country. Because Finland is one of the more expensive countries for tourists, visitors will want to seek out a cheap Finland hotel deal. Traveling in the off-season may not be the best way to get a special discount due to the extremely cold weather and the Arctic Night when the sun barely passes overhead in the south and never rises in the north at all. Late spring and summer are the best times to visit, and Finland hotel deals may offer visitors substantial savings at that time.

Helsinki is a small capital city with a number of interesting sights, including the 18th-century fortress Suomenlinna that is only reachable by ferry. Helsinki also offers an interesting mix of museums, galleries, restaurants, and sidewalk cafes. Saunas are enormously popular throughout the country, including Helsinki. Finland hotels may be able to recommend the top saunas in the city, and some Finland hotel packages might also include saunas.

The southwest city of Turku is as important as Finland’s oldest city. It dates back to the 13th century as does its castle. Fans of Finnish writer Tove Jansson’s Moomintroll books won’t want to miss a visit to Tampere in the north where the Tampere Art Musuem hosts a collection of Jansson’s art. Both Turku and Tampere as well as other areas of interest in the country are easily reached by public transportation as day trips from Helsinki. For visitors who are not planning to travel into the far north, Finland hotel packages that focus exclusively on the capital city may offer the most affordable rates.

A trip to Finnish Lapland is a unique experience not to be missed if at all possible. Despite the brutal winter temperatures and dark days, the region is worth visiting at this time to view the Northern Lights. Families may enjoy Santa Claus Village in Rovaniemi. Year-round Finnish Lapland offers unusual and stunning scenery, and the small village of Inari may be of interest as it is home to the indigenous Sami people. Cheap hotel deals in Finland will include Finnish Lapland where reservations can also be made for lodges and cabins, and hotels there, like all hotels in Finland, are available for a range of budgets. Expedia can be helpful to find and book rooms at the lowest prices.

    "Excellent central Helsinki base"
This is a modern hotel situated near the shopping district and Central Station. The rooms are typically Scandinavian minimalist, but are clean and comfortable. The bathroom is large and modern in design and ambience. Despite being in the city centre, noise was minimal and we slept well. Hotel staff are friendly and prepared to help out with queries. The breakfast is very good with a good selection of hot and cold items, suitable for most tastes. All in all I really couldn't fault this hotel.

    "Comfortable hotel, nice staff"
We only stay one night in helsinki and will have early flight the next day, so we choose this hotel as it is very close to airport and with free shuttle bus (15mins from airport). Room is clean and staff are nice. But no breakfast included.

    "Great central hotel"
Awesome hotel, great functional rooms and a hearty breskfast. Stone's throw away fron the riverbank, very close to the bus terminal and close-ish to the train station. Need to get the bus to the ferry terminal, but you're only 2 minutes from the kauppatori where the buses leave. The staff are really helpful and very friendly. If you're heading out to Turku, stay here.

"Good hotel with great spa amenities but needs upda"
Good stay overall and easy check in/out process. Rooms are not 5 star standard thoughts price seems high - no bath and older style shower that flooded on every use- no tea/drink facilities in room or iron. Spa facilities are excellent. Restaurants are good except if you are vegetarian.

If Turku is your location, this needs to be your hotel. It's the perfect location, close to the town centre but quiet and a lovely view of the river. The rooms are tidy and spacious. Would definitely stay here again!

    "Lapland Spa Hotel"
It was OK. I had the "family room" which sleeps 4 in two twin beds and a bunk-bed. The room had a kitchenette with small refrigerator – which was very convenient. The Hotel is located very close to the ski slopes as well as to the town of Levi. The breakfast was adequate and the staff was helpful almost all the time. The one down side was the Spa's stipulation that men wear bathing trunks made out of "Speedo" material in the swimming pool areas – which did look very cool. I showed up with my Myrtle Beach swim trunks - which have a liner - and was told by the lifeguard (who was wearing a swimsuit very similar to mine) that I could not enter because my trunks had to be made of "Speedo" material. He did mention that I could rent appropriate trunks or buy one at the hotel store…but, not being an olympic swimmer, I thought it best to avoid that inappropriate Speedo look that we have all seen. So, I opted out and simply went skiing. Yeah…me in a Speedo…I don't think so. And renting a Speedo…yeah, again…I don't think so…that's just gross. I suppose I could have bought one - but spending a lot of cash to embarrass myself in a one-off swimming experience isn't going to happen. So, I headed to the slopes. So, if you do go to the pool/Spa, bring an appropriate suit or be prepared to buy one at Finnish prices!
