Great Anniversary CelebrationPosted Oct 9, 2015
Pros: everything from the pool to the game room, to our own beautiful room.
Cons: The thermostat in the room glowed a blue color and when I woke in the middle of the night, it was a bit bright and distracting.
Location: Volcano National Park was spectacular and the town of Kona was alive with athletes preparing for the Ironman Triathelon.
My husband and I celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary visiting the Island of Hawaii at the Kona Sheraton Resort and spa. The grounds were beautiful, the staff was helpful and we enjoyed every minute.

host in honeymoonPosted Oct 5, 2015
Cons: all the facilities are very old, pools, lifts, all in general.
Location: many bars and restaurants in walking distance
The staff is very professional and provides solutions to any problem that could arise. However the hotel installations are over-valuated. the facilities are older than other resorts in the area. The location is good if you don't want to rent a car. If not, there are better options in newer resorts with a more economic prices per room.

Good value in pretty location.Posted Sep 30, 2015
Pros: Updated, nicely sized rooms and great pool.
Cons: The exterior of the hotel is a bit dated and it's difficult to walk to anything outside the property.
Location: Within 8 minutes of Kailua-Kona and only 25 minutes to Two-Step bay for snorkeling.
Stayed just one night but the staff was great and location is right on the water. Beautiful sunsets and great pool.

Doesn't have a sandy beach or safe ocean access.Posted Sep 28, 2015
Pros: Layout was good. Next to the ocean. Nice views. Clean, comfortable rooms. Friendly housekeepers.
Cons: Be VERY clear that the guest will be required to pay an additional, mandatory $30/day plus tax resort fee on top of the booking.
Location: Good (driving) access to restaurants and beaches. Lots to do within 15 minutes; more within 1.5-2 hours. Worth driving to volcano, astronomy lookout.
Good location if you have a vehicle. Trolley service available but not very time-saving. Other hotels are walking distance to restaurants. Resort has a couple of restaurants but very expensive.

Night at the SheratonPosted Sep 22, 2015
i should start by saying that we spent a few nights at the Hilton down the road and that place is a nightmare. it's about the size of disneyland and the tram that moves you from tower to tower is slower than an ailing grandparent. i almost lost a friendship over being late to lunch. so the Sheraton was nice because it only took me 3 minutes to get to my room. and the staff was incredibly friendly, even allowing us to look at another room with a better view before deciding which one to pick. the building itself is pretty dated and not exactly a visual person's dream but most of hawaii from what i can tell is pretty tacky. the sliding door was hard to open and close and the "oceanfront" room turned out to be just a view of the bay. still a nice night and really good people. $50 for breakfast buffet that was on par with cafeteria food hurt a little bit on the last morning but i was still so happy from how nice the fitness facility was to care too much.

OUR 5TH VISITPosted Sep 21, 2015
Location: It is right off Alii Drive and a direct shot down to the center of Kona. It is a short drive up to Hwy 11 which will take you South to the volcano.
We love this resort. The amenities, the friendly staff, and the idyllic location can't be beat.
