Staff are really helpful and knowledgeable. I stayed in a private room with shared shower. The room was adequate and a powerful fan for cooling. There was a dog in the house next door that barked incessantly in front of my window. Obviously not the fault of the hostel, but something to be aware of. I wear heavy duty earplugs when I sleep and the dogs yaps pierced right through them. Funky Dodo is an economical choice for travelers who don’t need much. The property is really lovely. It’s very close to the beach, restaurants, ATM, and grocery stores. There’s a nice courtyard to sit in. We had a private room so I can’t speak to the condition of the shared rooms. We were surprised to learn that there is no air conditioning. They did give us an extra fan. Most nights the temp was ok, but our last night it was too hot to sleep. WiFi connection was spotty. Sometimes there’s hot/warm water, sometimes not. Our biggest complaint is that we bought a bunch of Belizean chocolate bars to bring back as gifts. After we arrived we straight bookend third night. Could stay longer! Whole Hopkins area were nice, good restaurants and friendly helpful people there. It’s safety to hitchhike there. Very nice people at the hostel too, nice shared areas. Easy to get to Cockscomb in the jungle to maybe see some jaguars.
