The village was a favourite place of writer and playwright J.B. Priestley. The Norman church, St Michael’s & All Angels, is the resting place of his ashes. The George Inn, which is the whitewashed building here, is over a bridge opposite the Church. A lit candle sits on the bar when the pub is open and serving. This is a tradition from local auctions for agricultural land or grazing.
